2010 MLB Season Thread

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think the point of equilibrium is for major league talent? 16 teams were too few once the game grew and integrated, but 30 teams are clearly too many until Cubans can participate freely and the game grows elsewhere (or even domestically, God willing).

I think 30 teams is about right. Especially with pitching being the story of the 2010 season.

MLB looked pretty healthy, talent-wise, back in 1992 when there were 26 teams. They probably expanded too quickly by bringing in four teams in six years, and two of those seasons got shortened by the '94-'95 strike. Pitching fell well behind the hitting. (Not to mention that the new stadia catered more towards the hitters than it did pitching.)

Yet Tank fails to talk about Alan Wiggins since he can only know about things which ESPN tells him about.

Tank, you love Bruce Pearl, so then do you accept the Pete Rose cheating as well?

Wait.... what?

You are a strange, sad, little man.....

I know all about Alan Wiggins, and the fact he died of AIDS from using needles to feed his drug habit. That is old news.

This is the first time I heard about Eric Show's life. Before reading this he was just the pitcher with a funny name who gave up 4,192, and he died in 1994.

Thome continues to climb the all-time home run list. He homered in the top of the 12th inning to break a 0-0 tie against the Indians. Jim now stands at 8th place with 587 dingers. Steroids or not, it's history (you decide if you want to put an asterisk next to his name).

Giants put away the Pads today, take three of four in San Diego, and are again tied atop the NL West. I'm not too worried about the Pads, but is there any way we could just send the Rockies next chartered flight to the LOST island?

EDIT: and BTW, am I reading this wrong, or did the Rams really let Sam Bradford throw the ball FIFTY FIVE times today?

You wouldn't happen to know if there is any history of Tommy John surgery in the NFL, would you?

The Phillies will likely move Roy Oswalt's next start (vs Washington) up one day, which would set up Hamles, Halladay, and Oswalt as the three who would face Atlanta. Funny - of the three, Halladay has been the most vulnerable lately. Hamles and Oswalt have been nothing short of dominant.

There sure will be if that keeps up. I accidentally put the bit about Sam Bradford in this thread, I think I got him mixed up with a Cardinals reliever. At least it seems that way...

I can see how that mistake would be made. However, there are differences between the two. Bradford is more accurate for starters...

This type of :censored: is exactly what I'm talking about when I say the political thread spills over into other threads. This moron doesn't know what Tank thinks about Alan Wiggins, Pete Rose, or Bruce Pearl. He just reworded a political post to fit a sports thread so he could take a shot at Tank.

Tank "only knows about things" a news organization tells him. Sound familiar?

Stop being...well...you dfwabel.
