Lol... thanks for the play-by-play Bucfan.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :P

But how often does that happen? Giving up an inside the parker for the guy's first of the year, then giving up a regular homer for another guys first of the year in the same inning. Like I said, only the Pirates.

Speaking of which, have the Cubs been eliminated from contention yet? I want to know if it's too early to switch full allegiances over to the Mariners this season.

They're The Cubs. I'm surprised you've waited this long.

[gamereport]Won today 7-6 with a four-run 8th against erstwhile Cub suckbag LaTroy Hawkins[/gamereport]

Man, remember that crappy race-baiting idiot? He was Jacque Jones before there was Jacque Jones, who himself was Milton Bradley before there was Milton Bradley.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Am I the only one here who stops whatever I am doing just to watch Jason Heyward bat? There are maybe three of four players in the game that get me to do that; Albert Pujols, Ichiro, Joe Mauer, and now Heyward. That kid looks like he may be the real deal.

I couldn't believe what that kid could do when he played against the Giants. He went 0-5 with 4 Ks in the first game then smashed two homers in the next two games. Needless to say he's still a bit fresh, but once he gets on track he's gonna be SCARY.

I stop to watch him. But I am a Braves fan. It's a great feeling to be a fan of a guy that everyone raves about like people do with Heyward. Fans in St. Louis know that feeling. Minnesota fans know what that is like. Now Braves fans have a hitter that demands that sort of attention. The guy has been striking out a lot but he is 20 and that will come with being in the bigs longer. I have noticed that a lot of the K's have been looking.

I was going to go to today's Braves/Padres game but after that beating on Monday, I decided not to make the 2 1/2 hour trip to San Diego. I'm gonna go when they are in LA though.

Fortunately, there are a couple of players that are in similar statue on the Rangers right now, and that's really, really cool considering how mediocre the team has been for so long... but I love to watch Elvis Andrus play defense, and damn, I love watching Neftali Feliz throw 102 MPH like he's playing catch.

The Braves wanted me to get this message to you regarding those two guys:

Lol, too true. How's Teixeira working for ya? ;) just kidding.

Actually, I'm pretty stoked from what I've seen so far. Great starting pitching, we got the bullpen fixed with Feliz closing rather than Francisco. We could conceivably be 7-1 or 8-0 now if not for him.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the leadoff part of the order. Guerrero and Cruz are proving to be extremely potent, and this lineup could improve a lot once Kinsler is back. Borbon's gotta hit, though.

You should've went, the Braves basically dominated the next 2 games. Plus you missed the throwbacks. You missed out, bruh. :P

Right now there is little video on his tenancies and at bats therefore there isn't a "book" on him now, by Flag Day, there could be a book since most NL teams will have faced him.

Andrus will probably move to the Yankees after Jeter signs his last contract which might be for two or three years. The Rangers are currently in no position to even give Elvis a deal like Evan Longoria received from Tampa Bay, so he may be SOL.

In regards to the closer role, if after one week, why did the team decide to move Feliz to the closer after in Spring Training, it seemed that he was in contention to be the fifth starter with CJ Wilson?

Francisco has just been a closer for about 75% of the season in 2009. He had little stopper cred or manager confidence overall. His leash was short since came back from injury.

Feliz was their only option plus they had no fallback and that is startling. Oliver, no (he is 7-8th only). Chris Ray...no with his previous arm issues. Plus, why was Feliz getting starter's innings in Spring training, did not a save since rookie ball, and did not pitch back-to-back games but once since 2006?

CJ is now a starter, so Nippert was the last hope.

That roster is an issue made from Nolan Ryan, John Daniels, and Washington and the closer seems to be an issue as Feliz's velocity drops 8 mph on the second day.

Feliz wasn't really ever in contention for the fifth starter role... most people involved have been pretty adamant about keeping Neftali in the bullpen for the majority of this year, partially for innings management and partially because the team's been expected to compete. He would've needed an overwhelming Spring Training to really be in the picture. Francisco becoming a liability during a save situation necessitated the move to Closer.

Also... "did not pitch back-to-back games but once since 2006" and "Feliz's velocity drops 8 mph on the second day" kind of seem to be conflicting statements.

Yes he was. It goes back to Spring Training, if both Feliz and CJ were throwing enough to be in the starting rotation, CJ got the gig, but had better experience as a closer and possibly "the stomach" for that meanwhile he (CJ) was considered a clubhouse cancer. Plus, Feliz never has been in the role as a stopper. If he is to be your closer for 10+ years, then have that would have been named by Nolan/Daniels this year since they thought that this the the NOW! year

Why try to Jobba him? If he is has starter's goods in Spring Training, then why handle him as a stopper after five games in a season. Plus, he never has been the role as a stopper. If he is to be your closer for 10+ years, then have Feliz be it.

While he threw back-to-back games last season in Oakland the velocity fell off from my information from MLB people. His lasts saves were in 2006 (Gulf Coast Braves), yet TEX wants/thinks him to be good enough to be a starter in terms of pitches or be an immediate closer. Why?

Also, Kinsler should bat 5 or 6 when he comes back since he wastes too many at bats in the leadoff hole.

Robbie Cano just hit 2 homers on Jackie Robinson day, and Cano was actually named after Jackie, and he was a key factor in the Yankee win.

Coincidence?

nooooo.... it's a conspiracy... :P

I saw, I came, I left.
