Move over Deanna Favre, you're no longer the only celebrity wife on this team anymore...

Sweet Super Bowl XLIV's goat will now graze in the Twin Cities.

Yeah, it's all Hank Basket's fault the Colts lost the Super Bowl.

DAMN YOU HANK BASKET!

Who had a chance to field the On Side Kick?

The entire damn Colts side did. He was just the unlucky bastard the ball decided to bounce to.

Yeah, it's not like he pulled an Az Hakim or something.

Ironically, also involving the Saints.

Courtney Roby could've saved the poor bastard from goatdom but whiffed on the block he was supposed to lay on Hank.

He played excellent in two games last year as his only chance to prove himself, and was given a HALF of football against a fantastic pass rush before his chance ran out. I heard Philly fans all summer talking about how ready he was for the season, and if he's not, he's not. I thought they had more faith in him

That's one of my biggest complaints in the NFL today. Very few teams are willing to let young QBs learn. They pull them at the first sign of trouble. As a result they don't get a chance to develop and are labeled busts. You've got to let the young QBs make mistakes and learn from them.

With that said, Vick did look very good on Sunday. I only saw the highlights, but it looked like he used his speed to avoid the sack more so than to scramble. I've often said that a run first QB, like Vick was in Atlanta, would never find real success in the NFL. A good defense will be able to stop them in the playoffs. If Vick can use his speed to find the open receiver, rather than just run for a bunch of yardage, than he may be able to lead a team to the Super Bowl. Though, I'd have to see it from him in multiple games, against tough opponents first.

The Chronicle coverage and the ticket prices are embarrassing too. $500 for nosebleed seats, and news commentary that borders on covering the third world war. At least act like you have higher goals besides beating a mediocre team four hours up I-45.

Houston may very well win this game. The sad part is that if they do, they'll treat it as if they won the Super Bowl. Pathetic.

More pathetic than the Cowboys going 0-3 in a season they expected to host the Super Bowl?

I sense a whole lotta' jealousy in that post.

You sense incorrectly, I'm a pretty even-keeled fan usually. I don't expect Dallas to host the Super Bowl. Jerry Jones does. Hell, I'd be thrilled with a wild card at this point.

Coming out of Houston, I never thought of Kolb as someone who would succeed. Name me the last QB out of Houston or these "gimmick" college throwing offenses to do well in the NFL. After Steve Young, all the BYU QB's have been flops. We all know how well those Mike Leach QB's have done and oh yeah, let's not forget June Jones system too. Honestly, I think they thought they were getting a polished QB, and when they actually saw him practice and play, they realized what a mistake they made. Think about it. Why would you sign a former starting NFL QB like Michael Vick, if you really thought Kolb was a starter. Sure, they said all the right things to the media, but internally I doubt anyone on the team believed that Kolb can play. If the players asked for Vick to be the starter, and now the Eagles are taking offers for Kolb, he really is not an NFL calliber QB and they are trying to get something for their mistake. If he was NFL caliber, why take offers for him especially in a league where you need 2 NFL quality QB's to make it through a season.

I would figure Arizona and Buffalo to be on top of the list

Cleveland is certainly at the top of the list, considering GM Tom Heckert used to blow Kolb on a daily basis when he was in Philadelphia. MN is likely on that list too.

This is beyond idiotic. My feelings for Andy Reid are well documented, but this is amazing even by his standards. There's something to this that hasn't come out yet. There just has to be. This is out of character even by his stupid standards.

The rumor (started right now, by me, with absolutely nothing to back it up, other than I think it'd be an interesting story) is that he's going to step down as head coach (but stay on as GM / president) and that Vick's "mentor" Tony Dungy will replace him, and team with his "protege" for the next few years.

As a Bucs fan, I just hurt a little inside when I read that. Hopefully Gruden doesn't get hired on as a coordinator or something...

Gruden's already done the coordinator thing in Philadelphia, not sure he'd take that job again... unless he too has a "protege" to add to the team...

...such as who? The next hotshot son of a former QB? A bunch of overaged veterans? I know Philly ain't tryna have that happen to their team again.

(In essence, I agree with Vet here.)

The only way the Eagles can :censored: this is up is to trade Kolb. Eventually he will get the starter job back. Michael Vick can get hurt on any snap the way he plays, and Vick could go into a slump and open the door for Kolb to return. However, right now Michael Vick is playing too good to not play him, and maybe the Eagles have lightning in a bottle and can go to the Super Bowl.

I actually agree with tNak here.

And since he brought up the Super Bowl, Imma just say this one thing: IF Vick is still the starter that late into the season, and IF the Eagles somehow do make it to the NFC title game, and IF they somehow end up meeting the Falcons in that game, I'm gonna laugh my a** off.

Unless Vick is so great that he can also play defense, it's not going to happen. That's why this is dumb, and why it was dumb to even keep him on the team. They're not going anywhere with him, so find out what Kolb is really all about. You can't have a guy like him looking over the kid's shoulder - especially now. It's just a sh tty situation.

This seems like a ridiculous overreaction (I guess, I can't think of another way to describe it) on the part of the Eagles. You thought Kolb was good enough to start three weeks ago. Now Michael Vick plays well in two games and you're ready to trade the guy you had written in as your starter less than a month ago? Did Philly all of a sudden decide to borrow the Browns blueprint for building a team or something? I'm not saying Kolb is great or anything but if he isn't even good enough to be your number two QB then why did you trade McNabb in the first place? And it's not like Michael Vick hasn't been known as a bit streaky as a QB. If past history is any indication, Vick could come out this Sunday and just as easily be as awful as he's been good so far.

And I thought the Browns did some dumb :censored:.

I think its a stretch to say the Eagles are 'listening' to offers for Kolb. What the article says is that they have taken calls about his availability, and Reid gave a standard response to questions about it.

That being said, I think getting rid of Kolb at this stage in the season would be crazy. I think Vick is strong enough to play the game his way, but tank's general point is correct. And then you have to wonder if Kolb would have time to learn another system during a season. So surely the best ploy, if you are happy with Vick for the long term, remembering that he is 30, only 4 years older than Kolb, is to wait till the off season and see what the lay of the land is then.

Personally I have never been sold on how good Kolb is. I tend to think the really great QBs force there way into the league by hook or by crook, they don't sit on the sidelines for 3 or 4 years waiting for the chance. (I am not even sold yet by Rodgers as a great quarterback, though I am more sold on him than Kolb. I think Vick has a bunch more upside than Kolb, with perhaps more downside as well. But I think the NFL is a league where excellence is important, and having a guy under center, who just by sheer will of force and skill can win you 2 or 3 extra games a year is what makes you a championship caliber team. (Look how hard it is to replace the real top guys, Marino, Elway, Bradshaw, etc. (Montana as an exception!) Vick is a lot closer to that caliber of guy than Kolb is.
