Seriously, who watches Red Sox-Yankees games aside from their fans and 'fans'? There is no drama when the game moves at a glacial pace. So I don't want to hear about all the drama involved in these games.

It gives the analysts and commentators more time to flaunt the northeast bias marvel at how much of a storied rivalry the two teams have.

Part of me wants to say boo hoo you make 17 million dollars a year to seriously work no more than FOUR hours of the day, and you're playing baseball.

Trust me....professional athletes put in a lot more hours "in the office" than just the 3-4 hours they work during the games.

That's why I said they only seriously work for four hours. Sure they lift weights and take ground balls and condition and such, but it's still playing baseball for millions of dollars. And as important as it may be, I'm not counting the time they spend stretching and playing long toss. I do that s**t for fun.

Tex is right these Yankee Red Sox games have been excruciating, they are close but all the time between pitches trips to the mound changing of signs stepping out of the batters box to play one mind-games is hurting the quality of the game. There is no reason these games should take four hours for a 4-2 nine inning game. That's just insane.

As a player, when there's so many stoppages and it drags on like that, it can get you out of your rhythm and affect your performance, so it's perfectly reasonable to speak out against absurdly long games. As a fan, unless it's a well-paced game that just happens to have a million hits in it to justify the time, it's really painful to watch one of those games. It's been fantastic lately watching Halladay, Lee, and Hamels work as quickly as they have - but that's the exception, not the rule. I've been to far too many games where the 7th inning roles around and it's time to go home.

I agree. "Tradition" and "history" aren't excuses to put a poor product out on the field. Even though the players are some of the best in baseball, the unwatchable pace diminishes the quality of the experience.

I understand the tactical advantage of taking pitches, fouling pitches, calling for time, conferring with the catcher for every pitch, taking all the time needed to make sure the correct pitch will be perfectly executed, and all the other little things the Red Sox do that make them the smartest organization in the history of sports or whatever. I also understand the tactical advantage of running the neutral zone trap. Screw both.

To add to that, I'd get it even more if pitching were an exact science. The pitcher and catcher can talk all they want. But until the pitcher comes along that can deliver the correct, perfectly executed pitch with 100% accuracy, and find a way to make sure that perfectly executed pitch is never hit, they may as well talk about the weather. I'm preaching to the choir so I'll resist the urge to go another three paragraphs on how awful these Red Sox - Yankees mini-series are. It's been covered.

At tonights Angels-Twins game, there was an Asian pitcher (Takahashi), an Asian catcher (Conger), and an Asian hitter (Nishioka). I wonder if that has ever happened before...

1) Conger is really only Asian by descent. He was born/raised in Huntington Beach.

2) I'm sure.

3) :censored: the Angels. They don't look like they want to or deserve to win the division, really. Splitting in Seattle? Losing to the Twins at home? Screw off. I hate this team. Two weeks until Ducks training camp. <_<

Hideki Matsui hit a home run off of Cha-Seung Baek. Kenji Johjima was catching.

The Red Sox had been notorious for dragging the crap out of games before the Yankees picked up on it. Nevertheless, congratulations on your reasonable 2:49 game!

After last night's win, the Phillies are a franchise-record 42 games over .500. Never in 128 seasons have they hit that mark.
