Bengals uniforms

I'm failing to see how moving the TV numerals up and adding a logo to the sleeve qualifies as 'streamlining' the original tiger stripe uniform.

When they updated to the Corey Dillon era uniforms, they also tweaked the actual stripes on the pants and shoulder. If you look at Boomer (from McCarthy's post) the tiger stripes are pretty choppy and look like they were just throw in a place where they fit. But on the Dillon uniforms the stripes are a lot smoother and appear more like actual tiger stripes rather then just choppy lines. I think that's what he means when he says "streamlined."

I do think that all three elements having tiger stripes on them is a bit over the top, as you suggest. And i think your simpler (Oregon State like uniform) would looked pretty good.

I think that the Bengals should add their very sharp "B" logo onto the side of the helmet. I think the stripes are cool, but the "B" would center the design, and I think make them look much stronger.

Any intrepid artist willing to try throwing that "B" (maybe all black or all orange?) onto a helmet to see how it looks?

Ewww. In my meaningless opinion, the striped helmets shouldn't be touched.

With Nike taking the helm next year, what are the odds of the Bengals getting new uniforms?

SUBQUESTION- Will the Bengals be Nike's Oregon Ducks of the NFL?

Discuss.

What could possibly make you ask this question? How can anyone answer yes or no, when there's exactly zero evidence of Nike "taking over" any team?

Relax. It was merely a question, you know, something to discuss on a discussion board.

You are correct there is no evidence but if there would be any team that would qualify for a experimental Nikeification, it would be either the Bengals or perhaps the Cardinals. In any event, I personally hope that if they do change uniforms is it a clean, classic-style look maintaining the striped helmet but eliminating tiger stripes on any other part of the uniform.

But if i was honest, Being a Bengals fan for over 20 years, I don't care if they wear pink tutus as long as they start winning.

I missed the part where Nike is going to have free reign over any team. The NFL won't let Nike do that. You're not going to see NFL teams with 48 different uniform combinations.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I don't know. The current one sucks, but that one does too. No reason tohave squared-off letters and jagged notches when your mascot logo is totally round and curvy like that. Looks like a logo from one team just cut and pasted onto a wordmark for another.

or even this

Woww... I never realized how sharp of a look that was. I guess I didn't realize what I had until it was gone. That looks so good to me. I love the white outline around the leaping bengal, it makes it pop. And Orange should always only be a complimenting color like in this uniform, rather than being the dominant color in my opinion.

I prefer the Boomer-era not only because (as already mentioned), the tiger on the sleeves is overkill under the tiger stripes, but I like the original, thinner stripes on the pants and sleeves. The Dillon era seems to have fewer, thicker black stripes (which carries on to even thicker today). I like more thin stripes that are shown on the Boomer era.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

Oh man, those old Bengals sets were so much better than what they wear now. I think I only disliked them because of how bad of a team they were.

Personally, I think the Bengals should take the Florida State route. Have pretty simple jerseys, but have the collars and cuffs include the tiger pattern. It'd be cool to see them find a way to incorporate the stripe pattern into the numbers, but that could be so easily screwed up. Maybe just more of a Jungleish number font, kinda like what the Lions just changed to, would work best. Simple jerseys, new number font, tiger stripe pattern on the collar and cuffs, full body tiger on the sleeves (or even just the head) and they would look great.

Looking at the above Bengals logo, the head seems to float and stand out, as if someone drew the head logo and later said "I guess we should come up with a full body one, too."

I always thought that too. I don't know if it's because it actually does or because we've seen the head-only logo so much that it's familiarity makes it stand out?

I'm pretty sure clemson did that jersey treatment back in the late 90's
