DG_ThenNowForever
Going for it on 4th and 5 at midfield early in the 2nd quarter and you throw a bomb? Notre Dame is just joking around now. They're in "don't care in Madden" mode now. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
HedleyLamarr
I'm not blaming the natural instinct of Chris Conley in the least for catching the ball. I take a very simple mathematical POV from that situation:Clock the ball, and have two plays (minimum) to run to try and score a touchdown, with a set play call and fresh units on the fieldORRun to the line, tired units (granted, on both sides), and run a play on a whim, with the distinct possibility it will be the only play you get offThere are pros and cons to both. If I have Aaron Murray as my quarterback, however, I'm trusting him to get the ball in the endzone if he has two plays to do it in, with a playcall that he's comfortable with. And that's because Aaron Murray is one of the best quarterbacks in the NCAA.If the ball doesn't get tipped, the pass either is caught for a touchdown or goes incomplete. (Replays show the targeted receiver would have beaten his defender to the ball's landing point.) There would have been roughly 2-3 seconds left, regardless of the result.Instead, the ball did get tipped. The defense made a play. Clocking the ball or not wouldn't have mattered. That's why clock management is irrelevant to the play.

Red Wolf
S EEEEEEEEE C!!!I don't think this proves that the SEC is great, it just proves that Alabama is a dynasty, and Johnny Football is REALLY good. This is what I want to take away from this game: Alabama is a great football team, repeat Alabama, not the entire SEC. No problem with the players, or even Nick Saban (who apparently has some beef with some of you posters)...but the thing that I despise is the continuation of the conference bandwagon. I'd take the legit "roll tide" declarations in honesty, rather than the bandwagon "SEC SEC SEC!!!" chants I wanna piss all over for.Makes Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky feel better about getting housed by Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc. year after year. If you can't beat 'em, root for 'em. I guess.

But anytime there's a favorable call for an SEC team, the bandwagon knuckleheads come out and say that all their teams from their mighty conference are superior, legendary and that all others should bow before them.Refs are refs; they'll screw calls anytime. But the circumstances behind the reaction to the call make it more BS.

Kramerica Industries
It doesn't help that SEC fans are the most supportive of the "root for your conference in bowl games" ideology. I know this isn't as common in other conferences. It also doesn't help that the SEC is trapped in the southern portion of the country that is easily the most maligned region of the country (and with good reason). Natural bias will always exist. I'm not even a true southerner, but I do get tired after a while of the generalizations against people around here. NEW.ERA
I actually became a Bama fan when I was 8 and saw their Hat cause I liked Elephant's. I also hate the SEC, just happen to be a fan of a team in said conference. JETS|PACK|JAYS|NUFC|BAMA|BOMBERS|RAPS|ORANJE|
Cola
Before this game, I honestly didn't have a favorite in the game. While I don't like Notre Dame much, finishing an undefeated season is special and I think Notre Dame fans and that geographic region "needed" this in some way. However, I knew Alabama's talent on both sides of the ball would overcome anything Notre Dame could bring to the table. My prediction for the game was 31-10. Guilty of predicting a win for Alabama, an SEC team.

While I have tried to present that as a logical (while reasonably misunderstood) reason for pulling for conference opponents to victory against OOC foes, that is equivalent to hoping Nazi Germany has an uprising...or that I am in favor of slavery. It's not okay to pull for Alabama because they are in the SEC, but it is okay to pull for Notre Dame because you are anit-SEC. drdougfresh
I still can't figure out how Te'o was a Heisman finalist. He was ridiculously out of position on Bama's second TD, and largely nonexistent when I turned it off at the end of the 1st. Must've been slim pickin' in the eyes of the voters.I hope the Lions are smarter than that.

Seadragon76
You got to wonder, though. Many of Alabama's players were in last year's title game against LSU. Notre Dame hasn't been in this kinda of game in years. You have to think experience is playing a major role in this mudhole stomping of a National Championship game. NEW.ERA
It's huge. Barrett Jones probably the Tide's best player, he's played all the positions on the O-Line and is about to get his third ring. Some NFL team is getting an amazing talent. JETS|PACK|JAYS|NUFC|BAMA|BOMBERS|RAPS|ORANJE|
