I truly do not think Rex Ryan can get Tebow out of that locker room fast enough. I also feel that the Tebow move, combined with the team's performance this season, will be the end of Tannenbaum as GM since he has defended the trade as a "pure football move" and not just a publicity stunt.

I am not sold on Gabbert at all. Khan has shown interest in Tebow already. His hometown. Connection to the large UF fanbase in the area .... if anywhere makes since for Tebow's last stand, it's here in Jax. Sadly, I don't think it would work here or anywhere for that matter and Tim is either going to have to change positions or start looking at a post-football career.

Beyond all that nonsense... I have already turned my attention towards the draft for the Jags who will obviously end up with a top 3 pick in all likelihood. And I see so many holes in our roster that it is depressing. *sigh*

I would do it if i was the Jaguars, Chad Henne is god awful and Blaine Gabbert is the worst starting quarterback in the NFL.

Too simple of an answer for you.

With three options, what would Tank "do"? Since you are the SportsEcyclopedia, you should know the contract or salary cap impact the Broncos, Jets and the Jaguars on each of the following.

1- Trade for Tim Tebow?

2- Claim Tim Tebow off waivers?

3 - Sign Tim Tebow after he clears waivers?

I would like to see Tannenbaum fired, but if this is the excuse it would be criminal. He wasn't the one who signed Tebow, Woody Johnson was.

If the oppertunity presents itself I am sure it can be worked out, but the Jets are too stupid. When the oppertunity before the deadline presented itself the Jets should have jumped at the chance. Tebow is a huge distraction, Sanchez is a cry baby, Rex Ryan is a clown, Tannenbaum is a puppet and Woody Johnson is an idiot.

Why is Tebow such a lightning rod? I see why guys like T.O. and Chad Johnson are but Tebow? It's just weird, and I mean on both sides, those who idolize him and those who despise him.

Because he owes his superstar status not to his abilities but to the fact that he's an outspoken evangelical Christian. Given that most evangelicals fall somewhere between "benignly creepy" and "overtly hateful monsters," the backlash is obvious.

Cutler's out vs. 49ers. Smith practiced on a limited basis, but nothing's been announced from SF.

So what do we make of his run in Denver and his playoff win last year? Yeah, he's a nut, but to my eyes, he's also semi-decent at winning football games.

Given that I've watched a parade of bozos in Buffalo try to QB since Jim Kelley left, I'm a little bit non-plussed at the notion that a guy who wins national championships and playoff games all of a sudden is just a wildcat quarterback.

There's something there besides faith in Jesus, isn't there?

That and the fact that ESPN can't go five minutes without talking about the guy. They sent their A squad to cover Jets training camp and I don't think anybody had the Jets picked to go the Super Bowl or really even get close. So you figure out why guys like Jaws and Sal Pal were on location when it came to covering the Jets.

And that offends alot of fans and players out there as it should because it paints an inaccurate picture of what's going on in the NFL.

I don't think people are mad at Tebow so much as what he represents.

I think that's a key point. ESPN cynically exploited his identity politics for their own commercial interests. The backlash is hardly surprising.

So, while I am in the "Tim Tebow really isn't that good an NFL QB boat", I will point out that I noticed on Sunday that the Rams defense seemed to be completely incapable of adapting to and stopping a mobile QB. Hint, hint, Rex Ryan.

But what does he represent that has people all hot-and-bothered? Is it really just the Jesus thing?

Perhaps people are agitated that he's touted as some sort of "savior" (if you'll pardon the phrasing), but if that's the case then why not be agitated at other superstar players that are touted as winners as well?

Maybe it's what Admiral and Gothamite pointed to. Tebow is a lightning rod not because he's Tim Tebow, but because they need someone to be the personify ESPN. A whole "I hate ESPN and ESPN loves Tebow so I HATE TEBOW!" thing. Is that it?

I'm rooting for Tebow because I think it's hilarious to see the haters loser their stuff in such an over the top way. There would be nothing better for me to see the Jets give Tebow a chance and he starts pulling out wins against all odds. Tebow-mania is hilarious because it's so irrational.

I'm more agnostic on Tebow (heh) in part because I generally don't watch ESPN and I don't watch NFL pre- or post-game shows.

People should try ditching ESPN for a week and seeing if or how their perceptions of sports change.

Tebow does, though, tend to represent the point where ESPN did cease to be anything remotely resembling an objective journalistic entity though. So it's not necessarily hatred of ESPN so much as hatred of what its non-live sports broadcasts have become.

He has also allied himself, in the past, with some very scummy people.

His friends work very hard to deny the civil rights of our fellow citizens, and it's only right that Tebow ought to feel some heat from that.

THIS right here, is exactly why I hate Tim Tebow. Denver's playoff run had so little to do with Tebow actually being a good quarterback that it went along the lines of them making the playoffs despite having him as their quarterback. Denver's success had almost completely to do with the fact that their defense played so far over their heads that they weren't in the same atmosphere as their actual ability. It also helped that teams they played stacked nine or even ten guys in the box in the thought that Tebow was actually a clone of Rick Allen. I'm usually not one to take credit away from someone, but this guy is simply impossible to defend. His success was a perfect whirlwind of incredible good fortune, a defense that fired on all cylinders at the perfect time, and some downright abysmal coaching decisions that should've sent many members of the opposing coaching staffs to the unemployment line.
