2013-14 Soccer kits

Good question.

I'd much prefer construction elements - sleeves, collars, tape - be rendered in different colors than have them slap extra piping on for design's sake alone.

But again. Sleeves and collars are necessary. Seam tape, not so much...

We do know nike does love to call out their gimmicks features in contrasting colors.
Random question, why dont soccer jerseys anf backetball, a basically every other sport does not need flywire anywhere except the football jerseys that need it on the gigantic collars

Football uniforms have it so that not as much material is needed (weight savings) but it still keeps the shoulder pads from popping out.

That Portugal shirt looks like a training top. Why would Nike put gradient stripes on the back, when they'll be covered with lettering?

They'll just do the same thing that they've done with any of their striped jerseys.

Hmm, but it's not a big contrast between both reds. So I guess it would be like Hertha's new away kit:

I'm a simple person, I have a pixelated David Beckham as profile photo since 2010.

The shades on the Portugal shirt are close enough to have a number in a contrasting colour without breaking the hoops - assuming it's a genuine match shirt, of course.

Meanwhile, an all green third kit for Dave Whelan's Wigan...

I'm sure the guys at Liverpool said the same thing. Too bad we'll be saying the same about their aways and thirds.

Seems like they took an Umbro kit and slapped MiFit on it. Good looking kit though. It would also explain the shorts. I always had to order XXL Umbro shorts to feel comfortable in them.

I always had to order XXL Umbro shorts to feel comfortable in them.

When we got our five-a-side Umbro kits the supplier advised us to go a size up with the shorts. I'm usually a medium shirt but had to go with a large for length, meaning I was issued with a pair of massive XL shorts that wouldn't have looked out of place on Stan Matthews.

That Wigan kit reminds me - this is from last Saturday night in St. Petersburg, when Cosmos midfielder Joseph Nane wore a shirt with no crest.

I didnt get to watch the match, so I dont know if he lost it during the action or if it was never there in the first place.

Hopefully we won't have any uniform malfunctions in tonight's game.

Perhaps they're just honoring the Cosmos' storied tradition of uniform inconsistencies.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

This is very small, but United have added a red hem to the back of their black shorts. I think it looks really nice and is just one of those little added details that brings the full design together with the slim black collar and the new striping on the socks.

I, too, think it looks sharp. There is a black hem there on the white shorts.
