AD probably isn't the issue there. Lots of alumni of schools want throwback logos on gear (Flying T for TCU, Sailor Bear for Baylor, etc...), but there are a myriad of reasons ($) why that usually doesn't happen.

The biggest reason is schools are now making a crap ton in licensing old logos to Retro Brand and 47 Brand for an entire new segment that is separate from their primary apparel deal.

Those deals lose their value if the old logo goes back to being the primary.

It's the same reason the NBA actually forbids teams from going back to classic logos. The Jazz is as close as we've seen. But the Hardwood Classics line is so profitable, they won't let teams go "back" to old branding,

No, the AD is the reason they went to the darker colors and went away from the script. He hated everything Pitt stood for. So him being out of the question will certainly help in the return of the classic colors and script, which most fans want anyway.

The Holiday Bowl patch fits pretty well with the B1G patch. Surprisingly nice.

Biased, but disagree. And it's definitely more noticeable on the aways. It doesn't stick out so much on the homes.

MSU AD Scott Stricklin said on Twitter that the Orange Bowl unis will have shoulder numbers, so that mockup isn't 100% accurate. May also be some other minor differences.
