Sport
I think Andy Dalton plays a big role in choking. Lewis doesn't play for them, he's not throwing those terrible throws Dalton makes against Houston and San Diego. So, really, it's probably going to be 15 years without a playoff win.I wish. It'll be 24 years by the time the playoffs happen.
Seadragon76
I hope the free agency period ends soon. Being a Seahawk fan, it's like watching the vultures pick apart a carcass the way players have left Seattle for (not so much) better places for more money. See Red
That's the one downside to winning the Super Bowl. I don't think next offseason is going to be any better with having to resign Wilson and Sherman with an eye towards Earl Thomas the following offseason. CS85
Carolina was in desperate need of a wide receiver, and after a lot of comments from James Jones about wanting to play with Cam Newton, Jones signs a contract with.......Oakland. Kramerica Industries
Given how diametrically different the two team's salary cap situations are, that's really not a surprise. Carolina is really FUBAR'd right now in that regard.
JRB14
... Close enough. That's gotta suck, to be turned down by a team with a serious lack of depth at your position, only to be signed by the Raiders. I mean, obviously he wasn't going to turn down Oakland if that's the only offer, but if I were to make an unbiased decision, not regarding teams that I personally hate, Oakland would be the last on my list. Especially for wideout.
BlackBolt3
It ain't even worth the time to post a rant. Unless they pull it in heavy in the draft, this seasons DOA. Looks like last year had to be "the year".
JRB14
Well, your defense was good, and a lot of the offense WAS Cam. you won two games with under 20 points, against teams with both very good defenses and offenses. The regular season win against San Fran was 10-9, and held the Saints to 13 in the rematch at Bank of America. You also lost to the 'Hawks 7-12. You could make the argument that the Panthers offense was never really that good, and the defense hasn't lost anyone key that I'm aware of. Your biggest concern should be Atlanta. Do you think last season was the exception, or not?
See Red
The Panthers offseason is a mess. Seemed like all they had to do was call Jones and he was theirs.

Do you think last season was the exception, or not? They have already lost half of their secondary in Mike Mitchell and Captain Munnerlyn. The $10MM increase in the salary cap was basically eaten up by the dead money after trading Beason to NYG ($8MM cap hit). They have ten FAs still out there and they also lost Jordan Gross to retirement. This is the last year they will have Cam at a cheap rate, so they have a like two months to decide if they are going to pick up the fifth year option on him, sign him long-term, or let him hit free agency. Next off-season, it will be Kuechly. And they till have to figure out what to do with Greg Hardy. The Panthers offseason is a mess. Seemed like all they had to do was call Jones and he was theirs. They thought the same thing with Hakeem Nicks who took a one year deal.
JRB14
Wow, my mistake, I haven't paid much attention to what's going on down there, I had no idea all the free agents they had this year. Guess it had to be their year this year after all.
Kramerica Industries
Bill Barnwell at Grantland has written a few good pieces detailing the plight Carolina's facing in light of some of the wretched contracts that the erstwhile GM Marty Hurney left the organization. It's not so much that Gettleman isn't trying to do anything to push that roster forward; it's that he really CAN'T do anything to push it forward in the free agent market, be it retaining players or signing impact players from other organizations. Right now, thanks to their cap situation, Carolina basically has the same flexibility as one of my brothers does; he had scoliosis and has a metal rod fused to his vertebrae. ninersdd
It made no sense to give the RB position in today's NFL like a billion dollars like Carolina did. BEAR DOWN ARIZONA!2013/14 Tanks Picks Champion
BlackBolt3
Well, I can take comfort in the fact that both New Orleans and Tampa Bay both had a bad free agency. Atlanta has already won the division by doing almost nothing.

FiddySicks
So, I think this got coverage a few pages back, but it looks like Jim Irsay is in REALLY big trouble. He's not just fighting for his standing within the league, but apparently for his life as well. I had NO IDEA it was this bad. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2014/03/17/jim-irsay-arrest-drug-addiction-fighting-for-life/6528017/I'm gonna spoiler this simply because I can't verify it's authenticity. The reason I bring this up now is because I learned what is possibly a bit of interesting information on this issue tonight. I can't verify this, and I don't want to spread any false rumors, but apparently after getting a DWI last week he went to Scottsdale, Arizona to get away for a bit and to check into a rehab facility. I went out for drinks with some friends tonight and a friend of a friend who was with us is the concierge of the hotel he's staying at (I don't want to mention the name of the hotel), and he was saying that Irsay is "An absolute train wreck" right now. He was saying that he's been causing big problems for the staff and has been ordering copious amounts of booze from room service since he checked in.Again, I can't verify if this is in any way accurate, but I thought it might be an interesting piece of information to pass on. If this is in any way true, it's pretty sad to see. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Lee Noire
I hate to follow that post as it is greater than just football, but did the Cowboys really pick up Brandon Weeden? Seriously? Can my team be any worse at making roster decisions?
