2014 NFL Season Thread

I've really got to give the Cowboys fans on this board some credit. A good few of them were sort of tripping all over themselves last week, but they're sufficiently taking this one on the chin with class and some grace, and this one was way WAY more of an egregious call IMO.

Good on you guys, I mean that.

Man, tell me about it. I had high hopes for him.

I had too, but the jury is still out. He does have the ability to save his career and get back into the starting lineup.

Yeah, I'm not calling him a bust by any means. That injury bug is a cruel creature though.

That's big of you Bucfan. I'd like to think that we were consistent. We said that the Lions didn't lose on that call, and Dallas didn't lose on this call either. Both situations suck testicles, but it is what it is. The real problem isn't the Lions or Cowboys, it's the refs and the rules. Until that gets straight there will always be a team and its fanbase in this position.

Hard to tell from any of those angles if he should be ruled "down by contact". I'm curious to see how they rule this. From what I saw, could go either way.

The way Mike Carey says it, sounds like they got the call wrong. Oh well, I don't know the rule for certain.

The Colts handing it to Denver makes me feel a little better about the Bengals' doofus performance against the Colts last week.

Peyton Manning looks old. I'll concede that. Wouldn't surprise me if next season is his "Brett Favre's last season with the Vikings" year.

Peyton will be 39 at the start of next season and Brady will be 38. It wouldn't surprise me if both retire after this season. I don't see Brady leaving unless he wins another Super Bowl, though.

Not terribly surprised by this one. This Broncos team just seemed to get older and older by the week and they really didn't impress me much coming into the playoffs. I also had a feeling it was Andrew Luck's time.

Now I fully expect the Colts to get smacked around by the Pats like it's nobody's business, but good for them nonetheless.

Also, there has been some talk about Peyton possibly purchasing part of an NFL team soon. If something were to open up this off season (like the Titans, which has been rumored) I fully expect this to have been his last game as a player.

If that does happen, what an amazing career. Sure he didn't have the titles that guys like Montana had, but he's hands down the greatest quarterback of his generation IMO.

Way to go Andrew. A tall task to go into Denver and pull off the win, so you got to admire that. I also feel bad for Peyton too. Even though hes an instant hall of famer and has a ring to his name, he seemed to be the most unlucky of all the recent franchise quarterbacks.

I dont know. I just think its weird how Flacco has more rings than Manning.

Whoops. Meant to say "same number of rings."

Yeah well, Flacco and Trent Dilfer have more rings than Dan Marino, but nobody is gonna argue that they're better quarterbacks.

Sometimes it's just about playing on the right team and getting the lucky bounces. There were a lot of times in his career where Peyton just didn't get those bounces.

Luck had a good game, but this was a total team win for the Colts. The Broncos pulled a Sharks where in the playoffs their offense suddenly disappears. Very interesting offseason coming up for Denver.
