Inaccurate colors/uniforms in video games that should know better

Here's another angle of Arizona's facemasks.  It's weird because they're light gray on the team selection screen but are dark gray or black during on-field action.  Definitely darker than what Jake Plummer and crew actually used as seen below.  Also for some reason, the Cardinals endzones are dark gray instead of red.

For Baltimore, I don't remember any plans back in the late 90s or early 2000s for them to wear purple pants, and if the developer was trying to be creative, at least give them the correct purple!

Speaking of black facemasks, I just noticed Tampa Bay doesn't have them on the field.....they have pewter instead, matching the helmet.  Also notice the Bucs and Vikings are each missing their sleeve patches.

How come Vikes vs. Bucs is color-v-color but Cards vs. Ravens isn't?

The original Blitz games were usually color-vs-color unless the teams had similar uniform colors (Eagles/Dolphins, Chiefs/Redskins, etc.).....which doesn't explain Arizona vs Baltimore at all

Right...I mean, both games you posted were purple against red, but the system turned one of the purples white...that doesn't make sense.

Texture limitations. Uniforms in video games couldn't really be "accurate" until the sixth (PS2) generation.

Also in those earlier Blitz games, I'm pretty sure the Chargers' road uniform had solid blue socks instead of the white socks with the thin blue stripes.

The N64 version I think had the Jets in the early-mid 90's uniforms even though they already went back to the Broadway Joe look by the time the console versions came out.

Understood, but the Eagles, Jaguars, Patriots, Panthers and others had their sleeve logos, the latter two seen here:

Now that I look at the TB/MIN pic again, I think the sleeve logos rotated to the front of the arms at certain angles and you can somewhat see the Viking head logo near the armpit.

It was a direct arcade port, and the Jets were still in the old set when the arcade version came out in '97.

Wrong belt and undershirt color from the inaugural season MVP Baseball 2005 game. They also had high blue socks at home which was very strange. One of my first uniform-related memories.

Actually, I don't find that one to be strange. If memory serves, when the set was first announced, they were planning on wearing the navy caps and socks with the home set, and the red caps and socks with the road set. Somewhere along the line though, that was swapped, and I think it took place relatively late in the process, too.

The error that has bugged me for YEARS is NBA 2K's botching of the 90's Golden State Warriors uniforms. The number font is hilariously wrong and they refuse to fix it. It's not even close to what they wore. Amazingly, this is a screengrab from 2K17.

Don't forget the botch job that is the 85-86 Celtics. McHale in particular.

I'm curious about when they started :censored:ing this up. Of the past five 2Ks the only ones I've played are 2K13 and 2K16, and 2K13 definitely did not have these errors. Not on the 360 version at least.

The font 2K uses for the RunDMC set is the Friz Quadrata font used on the Warriors' navy/orange/yellow jerseys.  Stupid mistake to make, but they probably thought "heh...sort of close enough".

just can't understand why 2K have this kind of mistakes, seems they have the correct fonts but they use them in wrong places:wacko:

Remember when games in general were completed BEFORE they were released? Now we get rushed-to-market product riddled with bugs that are addressed in future DLC ($$$).

It's like buying a car without a transmission. "Oh, you wanted to get into SECOND gear? There's an optional purchase for that."

If I remember correctly that is the champion block font that the celtics actually did wear in that time.

The Celtics never wore a font like that. Or if they did, definitely not in 1986.

I don't think rushed, unpolished releases are anything new (Google "Football Pro '99" if you don't believe me). The only new part is charging extra to get the fixes.
