  1. When I was in my early teens, my parents bought me NCAA Football 98 for the computer. I really enjoyed the game, and it was very well-designed for the most part: 100+ schools; full-season play with rankings, major bowl games, and major awards; school fight songs; decent playbooks; something approximating logos on the helmets. It was a very good game for the late 1990s---not as good as the Football Pro series overall, but distinctly collegiate and lots of fun. Anyway, despite the overall quality, there were two details that I have since learned were wrong. One, LSU by default wears yellow jerseys over white pants at home in that game. Two, Missouri's colors are green and gold in the game instead of black and gold. (Come to think of it, I think the latter was also the case in that college hoops game for the Super Nintendo even earlier.) I was wondering: have you guys and gals noticed any similar errors in other games? (Incidentally, Football Pro 98 has the Eagles wearing kelly-green-and-gray even though they were in their second season with their current and inferior color scheme.)
  2. While I'm pretty happy with how the Cubs City Connect uniforms turned out given how poorly the initial jersey leak was received, I still think it would have been interesting had the team gone with a solid green design to mimic the famous ivy on Wrigley's outfield walls. Let me know what you think!
  3. Hello, good folks at the SportsLogos.net forums! What I'm about to introduce is something I've been wanted to get off the ground for a while now, but here it is, I previously announced this several weeks in advance on my profile's status update, but this is the start of a multi-sport concept series called "Into the 816-Verse" this series will feature a mixture of breathing new life into Kansas City's forgotten sports teams and a little bit of alternate history. Over the course of this thread, I will be updating my profile banner with each finished concept until it eventually becomes a full collage of every logo in this concept thread plus all of my previous KC-related concepts. All of the primary marks in this series will be Fiverr commissions. FOOTBALL Kansas City Cowboys/Marshals (NFL) Marshals (ex-Dallas Texans) (NFL) Kansas City Blues (NFL) Kansas City Stars (NFL) Kansas City Renegades (CPIFL) Kansas City Mules (NFL) Super Bowl LXII (NFL) BASEBALL Kansas City Mules (MLB) Royals-style Athletics-style Kansas City T-Bones (AAPB) Kansas City Packers (FL) Kansas City Blues (AAA) Kansas City Blue Sox (A) Kansas City Giants (NLB) Kansas City Royal Giants (NLB) Kansas City Maroons (NLB) BASKETBALL Kansas City Knights (ABA) NBA-style Kansas City Grillers (ABA) Kansas City Tornadoes (TBL) Kansas City Mustangs (WBA/WNBA) HOCKEY Kansas City Blades (IHL) Kansas City Outlaws (UHL) SOCCER Kansas City Wizards (MLS) Classic colors Kansas City Comets (MASL) Kansas City Spurs (NASL) BONUS Kansas City Royals (NBA) Classic colors Kauffman colors Kansas City Steers (ABL) Kansas City Soul (ABA) Kansas City FC (MLS/NFL) Kansas City Chefs (NFL) Kansas City Reapers (NFL) Kansas Tech Jackals (NCAA) Kansas City Chiefs (Redesign) (NFL) Fort Worth Cattlemen (AAA) Omaha Outlanders (G-League) Omaha Gnomes (MLS Next Pro) Kansas City Royals (NLB) Apollo Beach Royals (A) Kansas City Thunder (NBA) Kansas City Lakers (NBA)
  4. So I've been living in Florida for about a year now and I got to take in a Rays game last April and this spring, finally got to experience Spring Training. What changed between April and now? Well Nike and Fanatics have apparently ruined baseball jerseys (and even though I work for that devil company, the jersey fiasco had nothing to do with me I assure you.) But that aside, between getting to watch baseball and see teams and the uniforms in action, and @MJD7's fantastic Cooperstown Collection thread (check it out here, a lot of great work!), I felt like taking another stab at the MLB uniforms after 7-ish years since my first attempt. The title is a bit misleading because the designs themselves are good, but the production and other elements aren't. So what do I plan on doing? Well my first series was my first true attempt at baseball uniforms and it was alright, but not great. But I liked the forward thinking ideas I tried out on a few teams and I think I tried doing too much but I still want to move designs into the future but respect the traditions of baseball. So, as I always do, the ground rules: Eliminating Nike's 4+1 rule, which in conjunction is also eliminating the City Connect slot, but teams are going to be limited to 4 jerseys. Like my NBA series, there will be home, away, and alternate uniforms. The fourth slot is totally up to team discretion (straight throwback, fauxback, TATC, City Connect, take your pick) Grey uniforms remain optional. The old heads might disagree but I think we're reaching a point where more teams will start shedding them. I'm trying to limit hats and unique hat designs. Before you jump on this one, I'm talking about things like the Mariners having a navy/navy hat & a navy/teal hat. Just pick one. BP "jerseys" are going away, which seems to be the way the league is trending, instead replaced by a 3/4 sleeve shirt. Teams will now have collar decorations. Something I saw MJD7 doing in his aforementioned thread, using the Cooperstown Collection branding and the vintage Nike swoosh was something I liked a lot and I wanted to include that on the throwback and vintage designs. So the modern batterman logo on those uniforms would be replaced with the vintage batterman from the CC logo and the Nike swoosh would also swap. I think that's it for the ground rules I was working with. Now for the team order, which I continuously find new ways to do: Teams will be posted in order of oldest perfect game to latest, which gets us 1-14. After the perfect game teams, same thing for the rest but with no-hitters. American League AL East: Blue Jays | Orioles | Rays | Red Sox | Yankees - AL Central: Guardians | Royals | Tigers | Twins | White Sox - AL West: Angels | Astros | Athletics | Mariners | Rangers National League NL East: Braves | Marlins | Mets | Nationals | Phillies - NL Central: Brewers | Cardinals | Cubs | Pirates | Reds - NL West : Diamondbacks | Dodgers | Giants | Padres | Rockies Alright, I've talked enough, first up: Home & Away - A classic start but not without some changes. After ending up at two Red Sox ST games, I came to one major conclusion: I don't like their City Connect uniforms. they're just too different when viewed next to the iconic red and navy. But the CC uniform sticks around in a couple different ways. Hat - no changes to the hat. adding a red brim was fine for the BP hats, but full time looked too much like Cleveland. Jerseys - the crux of the jerseys stay very much the same. But the white jerseys have so much more life than the drab greys and the biggest thing was adding more life to those uniforms. biggest additions is the Sox logo on the sleeves of both the home and away now, placket piping added to the navy jersey. the double stripe from the CC uniforms is added to the sleeves of both uniforms. Pants/Socks - Nothing too crazy, single color stripe, red on the white pants, navy on the greys. Solid red socks & striped socks modified from the pullover era uniforms. Hanger Effect - using the City Connect colors, BOSTON STRONG with the 617 area code in the middle. Alternate - Hat - A red hat returns to Fenway for the first time since the late 70's but uses the 2024 Spring Training Hat color, with white taking on more of the leg work. Jersey - recolored version of the white home tops, but with similar conventions to the hat. Pants/Socks - same as white jersey Fenway Heritage - not my most creative name for a uniform, but I felt it captured the spirit of the uniform as a whole. Hat - the throwback B comes from the 1936-1945, coinciding with the start of Ted Williams' career in Boston. Jersey - the tops combine the pullover look from the 70s, with skinny triple stripes on the collar and sleeves with a new old logo that blends the 1931-1932 sleeve logo with a font, similar to the wordmarks of the turn of the century Red Sox team, all on a vintage white base. Pants/Socks - these also take from the pullover era, with a faux waistband design. Striped socks go away in favor of a stirrup set. Hanger Effect - Boston Strong goes away for a simple Green Monster shade of green with "THE OLDE TOWNE TEAM". Batting Practice - Hat - Like I mentioned, I didn't like the navy/red look for full time use but it worked for BP, with the Sox logo on the front Tops - navy and red options, both have the double stripe on the ends of the sleeves, number on the right sleeve. Navy has the Sox logo on the front, Red has the fauxback logo. I've talked a lot, now I want to hear what you guys think!
  5. I searched through threads for the past year and couldn't find anything like this, so I figured I would post it. The idea behind this thread is to post interesting facts or statistics that a lot of people don't know. It'll essentially be the answers to trivia questions. I've got two interesting ones to start this thread off. The Minnesota Vikings were the first team to kick an extra point from the 15-yard line. Tom Brady has played two games at University of Phoenix Stadium, but he has never played the Cardinals there. The Pats have played two Super Bowls there, but only played the Cardinals at home since the stadium was built.
  6. Happy Opening Day! This is a series over a year in the making. When Nike’s 4+ 1 rule went into effect prior to the 2023 season, it got me thinking: Taken to its logical extreme, what if Nike not only limited each team to four jerseys, but mandated that number? What would it look like if teams who have historically refrained from wearing alternates, such as the Yankees, Dodgers and Tigers, suddenly had two each? Now, I want to make it clear that I in no way condone such an idea. This is simply a creative exercise to imagine what it would look like if all 30 MLB teams had five uniform options. The truth is the majority of the league isn’t actually impacted by the 4+ 1 rule. As such, I’ll be leaving those teams alone. I will, however, be using this series as an opportunity to fix some things that have always bugged me about a few teams’ looks; no major redesigns, just some tweaks here and there. I also want to avoid teams having multiple jerseys of the same color (which includes their City Connect), which, in some cases, will demand some outside the box solutions. Side note: Even though I really wanted to launch this series on Opening Day, this project will roll out a bit slower than my previous series, as I'll be waiting on the remaining nine City Connects slated for this season to be unveiled before I tackle those teams. PITTSBURGH PIRATES: HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - Pittsburgh gets a new off-white, sleeveless home set that harkens back to the team’s late ‘50s-60 look. The road and road alt are now sleeveless, as well. - As mentioned in my introduction, I wanted to avoid teams having multiple jerseys of the same color, so the Bucs' current black-on-black alternate is replaced with a new early-mid ‘70s pullover style home alt. - I simplified the design of the road alt by dropping the strokes around the “P” and numbers. - The City Connect uses the scrapped "Steel City" wordmark and anthracite color suggested by @GriffinM6. C&C appreciated! I'll have another team up soon.
  7. numbers on concepts randomly chosen. 4 jersey limit (as MLB rules). also every jersey has NOB and only in block font. to prevent this. most alternates can be worn home or away AL west: SEA: the font from the wordmark in used on the jersey numbers, gray jersey is added over the cream jersey. and silver brim hat replaces all blue, and blue jersey has piping TEX: i preferred the 2014-2019 jerseys over the 2020- ones, I don't like the rangers script, although having 'texas' on the home jersey is worse. red jersey added back for red-blue balance ANA: they play in Anaheim. also added a blue jersey & hat OAK/SAC/LV: the Oakland athletics of Sacramento & Las Vegas have good jerseys. but the yellow A on the all green hat looks much better than white. HOU: orange hat added back & blue jersey matches others. NL west: SF: all jerseys match the home jersey better. alt bridge logo added to sleeves COL: more purple is added to home jerseys. AZ: gold/sand added back over teal, 'diamondbacks' added to white & black jerseys. also, the dark gray jersey was unique, so I brought it back. LAD: on Jackie Robinson day, they wear jerseys without front numbers, and i think it looks better than front numbers that mismatch the back numbers. (also, a throwback to 1951) SD: the blue-gold color scheme is vastly superior to brown-yellow, why celebrate 22 years of .436 ball with 1 90 win season? and they wore blue for longer as well. AL central: CWS: red or navy has been in use for the white sox for a vast amount of time more than black & silver. also throwback hats! MIN: i prefer the current striping, but the previous gen of everything else for the twins. also, cream alt is back. CLE: I hate almost everything about the guardians rebrand. so, these are close the 1994 jerseys. KC: i prefer seeing the script on the away jerseys over block. DET: I added a modified version of spring training jerseys from years back as an alternate, and the B-W-O striping on the road. (I remember seeing it somewhere on their old jerseys.) NL central: CIN: black brim replaced with white brim. MIL: the ball in glove logo could work for any other ball club with MB initials. i prefer the previous set with gold & a logo with wheat in it. CHC: old road script is back, also R-W-B striping. and your beloved red bills. STL: st. louis added to road jerseys. red alt added over cream & powder blue. PIT: only 1 black jersey is needed. also 'pittsburgh' is in the same font as the home jersey AL east: NYY: blue alt added with white brim hat. (also, one NY logo apparently.) BOS: blue centric road from the 2013 team is added back with red outlines. blue & white on red jerseys flipped, and 2 alt hats are added TB: modified 2007 set with font on back numbers. a devil ray is more intimidating than a ray of light. TOR: navy added back to be more accurate to the WS jerseys BAL: black is the primary over orange. old bird is back. NL east: PHI: more blue added and red alt jersey is back NYM: pinstripes moved to cream alt, old blue jersey is back. MIA: white M on hat. ATL: i made a 2019-2023 blue jersey here, but i think blue on blue is more unique and less like CLE WAS: nationals script in red on home, white on red jersey, 2023 road jersey added back. requests now open
  8. Just a vision of what a new domed stadium in the Tampa Bay area might look like. Logo related so to stay on track, it says "for the Tampa Bay Rays...". The Tampa Tribune OK Gothamite, start you usual diatribe about how bad the Tampa Bay area is and how great New York is.
  9. We have the Players in the "Wrong" Uniforms thread and within that thread I've seen a few "Right Team, Wrong Uniform" entries. I thought I'd separate the two, because it is an interesting topic of its' own. Here are a few to start the thread off with ... Charles Barkley, Preseason 1992, Phoenix Suns Matt Hasselbeck, 2001, Seattle Seahawks Jeff Bagwell, 1992, Houston Astros.
  10. So... I got pretty bored a while back and decided to make some MLB Expansion team stuff, starting with Omaha, Nebraska. It took me a while to come up with a name for the team but I eventually settled on the Pronghorns. The Pronghorn is found exclusively in North America, mostly in the upper plains. Presently, there are roughly 6,000 pronghorn in the state of Nebraska.1 While not the official state mammal in Nebraska, it is a prominent figure historically. Lewis and Clark first encountered pronghorns in present-day Nebraska, remarking "Of all the animals we have seen the [Pronghorn] seems to possess the most wonderful fleetness. Shy and timorous they generally repose only on the ridges, which command a view of all the approaches of an enemy..."2 It is also the fastest land animal in the Western Hemisphere, capable of speeds exceeding 55mph. The Team: The primary logo is, of course, a stylized Pronghorn in three colors. The brown and cream come from the Pronghorn itself, and the red is an alteration of the Nebraska Cornhuskers red. On the right sleeve of each jersey is a simplified Nebraska, with a star overlaid to represent the city of Omaha. On the left sleeve is the Pronghorn. The cap logo varies by uniform. Each uniform is solid, with striping on the sleeves and collar in alternate colors. Primary Home - The 'Horns: I opted to use cream rather than white for the base to lean more into the natural color of a Pronghorn. I decided to use the nickname 'Horns in brown lettering in place of Pronghorns on these jerseys because it just looked right. The player number is in red on the front, located below and on the left lower abdomen. The cap logo for the home jersey is a stylized 'O' with the silhouetted pronghorns protruding from each side. I opted for a brown cap with red bill because I'm a sucker for two toned caps. The batting helmet follows the same design. Primary Away - Omaha: The standard road jerseys for Omaha are a basic grey, with Omaha on the chest. With the exception of the sleeve Nebraska logo and rear nameplate colors being altered, they are the same as the home jerseys. The cap is also the same, but the batting helmet is all brown, rather than having a red brim. City Connect - Omaha: I'm not super familiar with the city of Omaha or it's history, so I went with something simple. As opposed to the standard Omaha lettering, the chest wordmark is taken instead from the Omaha World-Herald. The Omaha World-Herald is the oldest newspaper in the state, founded in 1885. It was also the last newspaper in the world to print separate morning and evening editions.3 The cap logo for this has also been changed to the Old English O to match the Omaha wordmark. Sunday Home - Omaha Pronghorns: As with most MLB teams, the 'Horns would have a separate uniform for Sunday home games using a red jersey as an homage to Nebraskans. The cap would use the simplified Nebraska logo with a brown cap and red brim. Rather than a script or wordmark on the chest, it is split. The right chest has the player's number while the left has an alternate logo of the home and away cap logo, an OP with the silhouetted horns protruding from the O. Alternate Away - Script Pronghorns: The alternate road uniforms again use the alternate OP logo from before, on the cap this time. Rather than have another jersey that just says Omaha, I opted to use a cursive script for this one. I also decided to use the full Pronghorns name on this one, making it unique. While this isn’t quite that, it’s easily the closest I’ve come (full uniform sets for all 30 teams). With that in mind, I hope you enjoy what I’ve cooked up. The premise is this: What if every MLB team had kept more or less the same uniform they were wearing when they first came into the league, bending to current trends and sensibilities only when absolutely necessary, essentially freezing them in time? What would a league that has been around since the mid-1800s and seen expansion and relocation spanning over 150 years look like today? Well, wonder no further. I'll be posting teams in a totally random order, alternating between AL and NL clubs, starting today with the: CALIFORNIA ANGELS (est. 1961) HOME: ROAD: ALT: Notes: - Even though the Halos originally went by the name “Los Angeles Angels,” I chose the “California” moniker to make use of that excellent “CA” monogram from 1965. Plus, there’s the whole fact that Anaheim isn’t actually in Los Angeles. - Inspired by the Halos’ City Connect unis, I decided to eliminate outlines altogether and segregate the red and navy while going with cream over clean white for the home set. - I worked up a new “CALIFORNIA” wordmark in the style of the “ANGELS” wordmark and cap logo and also found matching numbers. - The alt would ideally be worn only at home, as the cream would probably clash with the gray pants. C&C appreciated! The first NL team will be up next.
  12. Loosely inspired by my recently competed series, I wanted to imagine an alternate history in which Major League Baseball found a foothold out West and then expanded east, rather than the other way around. What would it have looked like the Dodgers and Giants departed California to give the NL two present-day New York teams? Or if the A’s started out in Oakland and ultimately wound up in Philly? My main prompt here was to depict what current-day teams who relocated in the second half of the 20th century would have looked like in the dead-ball era, and visa versa. We'll start things off today with... What if the Los Angeles Dodgers moved to Brooklyn? LOS ANGELES DODGERS (1914) HOME: ROAD: Notes: - The L.A. Dodgers are based on Brooklyn’s 1914 look, which featured pinstripes and a Tuscan "B" on the breast of the home jersey. - The road set features a vertical “LOS ANGELES” wordmark down a solid-colored placket. BROOKLYN DODGERS (2024) HOME: ROAD: HOME/ROAD ALT: Notes: - The modern-day Brooklyn Bums are essentially the Dodgers meet the Mets (specifically, the late '90s Mets, sans black), with a royal blue and orange color scheme based on the New York City flag. - I went with an arched block "BROOKYLN" wordmark, as the modern-day New York Giants will be using a script for their road jersey. C&C appreciated as always!
  13. I've had the rebrand bug lately so I decided to take a stab at one of the lamest brands in the majors right now. Immediately dropped the Los Angeles name and went back to Anaheim for the city name. It's just... better. The A halo is quite strong already so I kept that piece of the design. The one major-ish change I made to the lettering was opting for a cleaner font that maintained the vibe of the current set but felt a little less Texas-y. The wings from the short-lived Disney-era logo return in a much cleaner way. I always liked the idea of the wings, just never felt it was executed right with that iteration of the brand (also the bats were so corny). The diamond outline behind it is a callback to this logo, which I quite liked and wish they still used a bit more. Among the secondary marks is the A with the California outline behind it, a reference to this era of the Angels. The gold halo completes the retro look. As for the wordmarks, nothing too drastic. A change in the lettering, as previously mentioned, with an Anaheim option finally back in the rotation. Here's how the marks look on the Angels' uniform set, with some small tweaks here and there. I brought back the two-colour cap design to separate themselves from the other red-hat-wearing teams in the major leagues. The fourth option is just a fun throwback I tossed together, inspired by their City uniform from this past season. Let me know what you think! I haven't done a rebrand in a minute, felt good to get the blood flowing again.
  14. Ever since the Chicago White Sox hired the Kansas City Royals’ former bench coach as manager, promoted a former Royal to GM, filled out their front office with other former Royals and began amassing ex-Royal players all within the past few months, it’s become a joke amongst Sox fans that our team seems determined to reshape itself into the Royals for, uh, some reason. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun/funny to imagine what a mashup up the two teams would look like: ROYALS LOGO: ROYALS HOME: ROYALS ROAD: HOME/ROAD ALT: Notes: - A royal shade of gold replaces silver on the South Siders’ uniforms to produce a look similar to the one used by the Charlotte Knights, Chicago’s Triple-A team. - The road uniforms feature a new “Chicago” script in the same style as KC’s “Royals” wordmark. - The crown in the shield logo replaces the four circles with six-pointed stars as a nod to the Chicago flag. Much as I disapprove of what the Sox have been doing, at least it inspired a fun creative exercise. C&C appreciated!
  15. I'm a bit footballed-out at the moment, so I thought I'd try my hand at my real sports passion of Major League Baseball. Plan is to try for 1-2 sets per week, with the goal of finishing by the end of the year. Teams will be organized by how MLB is currently structured (though I'll probably make an exception for Oakland, who are all but guaranteed to move to Las Vegas). Each team will have at a minimum a Home, Road, Alternate, and Throwback Uniform. Most teams will probably have at least four sets. There will be no arbitrary limiting factors (*cough cough* NIKE ) although I'll probably cap the number of different designs for each team at six. Anything more than that is a thread in itself. I also won't make changes just for the sake of making changes; if a team already has a great look, I'll probably just make small tweaks or create some new alternate jerseys instead. Big thanks to @MJD7 for letting me use his template. I just modified it slightly for my preferences for this thread. Comments/feedback always welcome! --- AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST Baltimore Orioles v2 | Boston Red Sox v2 | New York Yankees | Tampa Bay Rays v2 v3 | Toronto Blue Jays AMERICAN LEAGUE CENTRAL Chicago White Sox v2 | Cleveland Guardians | Detroit Tigers | Kansas City Royals | Minnesota Twins AMERICAN LEAGUE WEST Houston Astros v2 | Los Angeles Angels | Oakland/Las Vegas Athletics v2 | Seattle Mariners | Texas Rangers v2 NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST Atlanta Braves v2 | Miami Marlins v2 | New York Mets | Philadelphia Phillies v2 | Washington Nationals *Montreal Expos* NATIONAL LEAGUE CENTRAL Chicago Cubs | Cincinnati Reds | Milwaukee Brewers | Pittsburgh Pirates | St. Louis Cardinals NATIONAL LEAGUE WEST Arizona Diamondbacks v2 v3 v4 | Colorado Rockies v2 | Los Angeles Dodgers | San Diego Padres v1.5 | San Francisco Giants
  16. Inspired by Ebbets Field Flannels' new line of vintage baseball sweaters, I wanted to close out 2022 with a fun little series that brings those designs into the modern day. I added a Nike swoosh to the front of the sweaters to reinforce that these are not just throwbacks, but modern updates. I should also mention that I'll also only be doing teams who were actually around in the 1920s-30 (when this style of sweaters was still being worn). Big thanks to @Victormrey for helping me out with the long-sleeved sweater template. Starting off with a combination AL & NL West, all of whose teams have since relocated to other cites: (OAKLAND) A's: A green and gold design with double breasted elephants inspired by these Philadelphia A's sweaters. (LOS ANGELES) DODGERS: This design is based on this Brooklyn Robins' sweater, with the Dodgers' "LA" replacing Brooklyn's block "B." (SAN FRANCISCOS) GIANTS: San Francisco's look is actually a combination of two designs: this earlier one which features contrasting pockets, and this later one which is primarily blue with red trim (or in this case, black with orange). C&C appreciated!
  17. I shared my initial thoughts on them here, and after sitting on them for a few days, I decided to take a stab at tweaking the D-Backs' new uniforms: HOME: ROAD: HOME ALT: ROAD ALT: CITY CONNECT: Notes: - The main thing I wanted to address with the new set was the overabundance of caps. I simplified the cap situation by paring it down to just two, a red home cap with the "A" logo and a black road cap with the "D" snake. - Front numbers have been added across the board. - I've decided I'm not a fan of the new headspoon piping, so I removed it from the home, road and road alt. - Since Arizona seems determined to lean into their history more and more with each redesign, I decided to bring back the diamond pattern sleeve cuffs from their original alternates, which would give the home and road jerseys in particular some much-needed personality. - I flipped the stroke colors on the wordmark and numbers of the road jersey, since the turquoise is barely visible on the gray. - This might be a controversial choice, but I decided to replace the red home alt with turquoise. Big thanks to @MJD7 for providing me with his "DIAMONDBACKS" wordmark. I'll try it with the actual wordmark once it's uploaded to the mothership. - I really wanted to find a way to bring back the "db" snake head, possibly in place of the "D" snake, but unfortunately it just doesn't work as a cap logo, and I figured four different logos would be overkill. - For the City Connect set, I brought back the team's 2007-15 numbers (the curves fit the script nicely) and replaced the "A" cap logo with the "S" from the script. C&C appreciated!
  18. Hi everyone, After completing my MLB x Negro League series a while back, I decided to put together a batch of concepts reimagining another defunct baseball league from the earliest 20th century: the Federal League, AKA the "third major league," which lasted from 1913-15. First up are the Cleveland Green Sox: GREEN SOX HOME: GREEN SOX ROAD: GREEN SOX HOME ALT: GREEN SOX ROAD ALT: Notes: - The script "C" is the Cleveland Naps' 1909 primary logo, which comes fairly close to the Green Sox logo. - I worked up a new "Green Sox" script to go with the cap logo while making use of the Guardians' current numbers and road wordmark. - My favorite detail here is the flying sock sleeve logo, which features the wings from the Guardian statues' helmets. As always, C&C is appreciated! The next team will be up soon.
  19. The thread is simple -- what championship teams wore the WRONG jersey, sweater, uniform, etc. I don't want to limit this to just championship winning teams, so maybe the finalists of that league's championship round (ie-Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Final, etc.). Here are a few examples to get the ball rolling ... Washington Capitals, 1998 Stanley Cup Finalist Cleveland Cavaliers, 2016 NBA Champions Edmonton Oilers, 2006 Stanley Cup Finalist
  20. First up, I want to fix the drafts of the four major sports. Currently, NFL is simply the reverse order of final record, which gives incentive for teams to tank at the end. NBA has the lottery where you really need to be in that bottom four to have a shot at the top, so tanking is practically required. Baseball is straight record, and most years is such a crap shoot it doesn't really matter. I'm not sure how NHL works, but I know the Penguins tanked twice, and IIRC, Edmonton tanked (or was legit horrible) for MacDavid. So here's my solution to this problem: Do the draft order by the order in which teams are eliminated from the playoffs. Nobody is going to tank from day 1 (except the Process-era Sixers), so they're going to legit play until they're about out of it. In the event Detroit is eliminated by week 9, it will be on merit, and they get the top pick and still have incentive to play hard the rest of the way. Toward the end of the season when teams are teetering on the brink, they're going to want to make the playoffs so there's little - if any - risk of the tanking. The first 10-15 picks will be locked in by week 12 or so, which means the end of the season should be legit competitive, and the teams with the top picks got them while playing hard. What do you think?
  21. Wow its been wayyyyy too long since I have posted on here, but here I am again! This time with a 36 team MLB Redesign. I have 17 teams already completed, and have been already posting them on Instagram (@drewbothwellcreative). I am including 6 expansion teams as well. There's no huge rules here, as there is so much possibility within these teams, so why limit it! Each team will also be getting a Reverse Retro uniform, which is taken from the NHL's collection, as well as an accurate team throwback. I have one photoshopped image of a player in one of the uniforms, then I will have all of the team's jersey's posted on a flat template. City Connects will be posted after all teams have their "base" uniforms! Get ready for some rebrands, and some new, colorful away jerseys! Looking forward to sharing these with everyone! Please let me know your thoughts! Here are the Royals! The Royals have a must different look than the Dodgers now! I took the crown of the logo and placing in right on the sleeve rather than piping and a patch. We go with much more powder blue, including a powder blue away, but there is also much more gold to help differentiate from LA.
  22. A while back, I was inspired to create a series of MLB x Negro League mashup designs. Unlike @Carolingian Steamroller's fantastic Negro League Teams in the Present Day project, which sought to imagine what NLB teams would like today had they been absorbed into MLB, this series seeks to combine Negro League identities with the aesthetics of the Major League teams with whom they shared (or would eventually share) a city. Without further ado, here are the Miami Giants: MIAMI GIANTS HOME: MIAMI GIANTS ROAD: MIAMI GIANTS HOME ALT: MIAMI GIANTS ROAD ALT: Notes: - My Giants design is heavily influenced by the 1996-99 Florida Marlins, with ocean blue replacing teal and pink/magenta replacing silver. - While the actual Miami Giants allegedly wore black, blue and red, I took a little artistic license and went with a more Miami Vice-centric color scheme. - The scripts come from the Miami Giants fauxback jersey offered by Ebbets Field Flannels. C&C appreciated as always! Another team will be up soon.
  23. Hey y’all! It’s good to be back! Been busy on some new concepts lately and I wanted to share! So far I have 10 teams finished, and hopefully I can finish the entire league. For now though I’m just gonna toss around some random teams I have done and let you guys take a look. As always, let me know what you like or don’t like and let’s have some fun discussing baseball uniforms! The first team I wanna share with you is the CLEVELAND GUARDIANS! * They switch from Red/Navy to Red/Black * Uniform piping based on historic 1940s Cleveland Indians piping * Keeps the updated fonts/logos adding a new cap option * both alternate tops can be worn with either home white or road grey pants Like I said, a handful of other teams are already done, so I will be posting them soon too! Keep an eye out for them. I hope you enjoy!
  24. Hi everyone, I have recently started a new project where I have made it a goal of mine to combine all of the sports logos from NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB (and at times MLS) from all of the major cities in the U.S. and Canada to create a singular city logo. I know this has been done countless times before but the way my designs stand out is they are more cohesive. They feel less like something was Frankenstein'd together and can almost act as a standalone logo. Consider this the definitive collection. I say this with confidence because they were all composed in Adobe Illustrator with linework redone to make the designs more seamless, images rendered in crisp high resolution quality, each one taking several hours of work and trial and error and the cherry on top of the cake is that I own my own print shop so I can make stickers and shirts out of these designs. It's a true passion project for me. My journey began when I was first getting serious about graphic design, the summer right before I enrolled at DePaul in 2013. I created a mashup of all the Chicago logos because I wanted my own version of it. All the variations I had seen online did not do the city justice and I wanted something genuinely more badass that wouldn't look cheesy. I dubbed it "The Chicago Beast". It was cool for a few years and then I sort of forgot about it - well in 2019 I decided to take another crack at it and make a wildly popular rendition of this logo mashup combination - you may have seen it online (I made a North Side - Cubs and a South Side - White Sox version. Both featured elements of the Blackhawks, Bears and Bulls. I have made slightly different variations - some including the 6 star Chicago flag and others with different color arrangements. Fast forward to 2021 - A whole year of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown had me yearning for another creative project that I can do for fun. I decided - why not give every city this same treatment? And so I did - "Major League Remix" (#MajorLeagueRemix). I will be posting the designs in this thread and would love some feedback! While I do consider these designs to be 'complete', as a true designer, I know there is always room for improvement, especially since teams change logos frequently. A few things to note (ground rules) for my concepts: They don't necessarily have to use the entire design of the logo in the mashup. They can be as little or as much as possible - the only rule is they have to look cohesive and make sense - no Frankenstein work! I often use past versions of team logos although I try to use the current ones as much as I can. This is because my goal is to make the logo look good, and if I use the core logo, it may not look the best. I have struggled a lot to piece some of these together because of the lack of uniqueness, clean design or symmetry so I have had to resort to alternates. Colors are fair game - as long as they are pulled directly from within the color palette of the city's sports logos. They all have a white border with rounded corners for consistency and also to set them up for sticker printing. That is all! I am so glad to be a part of this awesome forum - I can't think of a more perfect place to post this kind of work on the internet. 25. With the enormous popularity of the Rays' and Marlins' (and Diamondbacks', until they were sadly retired prior to this season) '90s throwbacks, I was inspired to experiment with tweaking those early uniforms so that they could work in 2023 not just as alternates, but as full-time looks. My theory is that enough time has passed since the early-late '90s that people have nostalgia for those unis that they might not have had, say, ten or twelve years ago. Let Jon Hamm explain it to you better than I can: With that said, first up are the Rays! RAYS HOME: RAYS ROAD: RAYS HOME/ROAD ALT: Notes: - I'd argue those original Devil Rays uniforms are the best the team ever looked, largely because most of what they've worn in the decades since has been somewhat, shall we say, bland. However, that's not to say those original Devil Rays uniforms were perfect, which I'll get into below. - Since I didn't want to just revert to the team's original identity, I decided to retain the "Rays" moniker, keeping in mind that they've now been called the "Rays" longer than they were ever the Devil Rays. The team's 1998-2000 batting practice jerseys give us an idea of what the team would've looked like had they been called the "Rays" all along. - The Rays' current throwbacks are really more like "fauxbacks." Since the cap was only seldomly worn between 1998-2000, I've restored the original "TB" cap logo and replaced black throughout the uniforms not with navy but with dark purple from the team's original primary logo. - I went all-in on the gradient, applying it to the back numbers, socks, sleeves (inspired by this prototype from 1997) and pants. Newly added solid-colored front numbers help offset the "gimmickiness" of the wordmark's gradient. - For the road, I've never liked any of the "Tampa Bay" wordmarks the Rays have used, and rather than just slap the "Rays" wordmark on every jersey in the rotation (which is exactly what the team did up until about a year or so ago) I used the cap "TB," similar to these '80s-early '90s Giants road jerseys. I also went with more traditional, non-gradient piping. - The alt is probably my favorite of the set, as the wordmark really pops against the dark purple of the jersey. C&C appreciated! The Marlins or Diamondbacks will be up next.
