Jobing.com Arena will change its name to Gila River Arena

That's an improvement. Lamest arena name gone, plus there's a little synergy between Yotes and Gilas, I guess.

There's even more synergy between two entities whose financial survival depends on dumb people throwing good money after bad.

I don't know what you're talking about... the press release CLEARLY said that the Gila River Casinos people care greatly about their community!

I'd prefer the never used update they gave to the original. The centurion in profile has always been my preference to the 3D variations.

That's my preference if they have to stick with the Roman theme. Which they probably do at this point.

I agree with you completely here (as well as with your earlier post). I've made it known many times on this board that I am not a fan of the whole Roman theme. Ottawa is the birthplace of the Stanley Cup and home of the NHL's first dynasty and the nickname is meant to represent the city's storied hockey history. I like the =O=, as well as the Peace Tower logo (the one with the maple leaf next to it, although the wordmark had the right idea, it just wasn't executed smoothly). If people need to have some kind of mascot then why not go with something like a Mountie or a Parliament guard. They both are closely tied to Ottawa and the government, and they both wear black and red.

If they do insist on keeping the trojan/centurion/spartan theme then the 2D logo is definitely the way to go. Nashville made the wise decision to drop their 3D logo, and I can only imagine the outcry if Chicago ever released a third jersey with a 3D Chief Blackhawk on the front. The team also needs to bring back black as the primary colour. The Blackhawks and Devils pretty much own the black helmet/pants, red jersey/socks look. There isn't a single team in the NHL that wears head to toe black with white and red stripes as a primary. It's a look that the Sens could own.

Totally agree with everything being said here about the Senators' identity. I never minded the Roman theme but the "Mark Messier" 3D logo has to go. I much prefer the =O= crest as it blends in nicely with Toronto's Maple Leaf and Montreal's CH. However, I still don't understand what the Sens are doing and what are they waiting for. Their updated 2D logo is very easy on the eyes with its more rounded look. For me, it's either the =O= or the updated 2D centurion.

Ottawa is a natural for an all-black uniform with red and white. The Sens nailed it when they added white to their original black uniforms.

The entire early 90's expansion class (OTT, TB, FLA, ANA) needs to go back to their original looks. Never did four franchises get it so right coming out of the gate and then go horribly, horribly wrong.

Not TB they got considerably better

. Am I the only one who would really like to see the Senators put their Pre-Launch Wordmark Logo somewhere on their uniforms? Perhaps the helmets or the pants, or even both? I think that would be a good secondary logo.

I agree & think it would look great with the current throwback uniforms. (if you replace vintage white with real white on the whole get-up.)

Not Anaheim either. That Disney logo sucked noodles.

still miles better than a generic wordmark (or foot) slapped on Penguins colors.

Off the topic of nostalgia and the NHL in general... Swedish team Brynas are sporting a look that's different in the SHL, with no ads. (Other than Unicef, but it's not really an ad as much...)

It does look really nice, I wish more North American teams took good creative liberty's like that with their sweaters.

Amen. You can also add the Sharks to that list.

Though Tampa's best look coincided with their cup win, just like the Senators benefited from a slight logo tweak and the addition of white to the black jersey.

I know I make the point quite a bit, but I still think the Lightning would've had a great look if they tweaked around the "BOLTS" alternate a bit and made that the basis of a full time uniform. Now this is just a quick Photoshop job (don't credit me at all for just playing around with the brush tool on the original graphic on the mothership) and there would need to be an outline around the crest and maybe use one of the logos for a shoulder patch, but this is kinda what I mean whenever I talk about this.

Now, the armpit area could lose the black, but I don't think it's too bad (and I was too lazy to fill it in to see what it looks like without it). It ends up giving a modern classic look when you get rid of the piping, the BOLTS, and the tramp stamp.

No. No. Dear God no. The Mighty Ducks logo is one of the best in NHL history.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Couldn't find an AHL logo topic, but here's the new patch for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Is there a 2014-15 AHL thread? If there isn't, it might be worth creating one.

As much as I love the Vintage White on both Ottawa Throwbacks, I'd like to see what they would look like with white instead. I agree, if they were white, that wordmark would be quite nice.

That would be quite an improvement. I like your Mock-Up. If the rumors about the Lightning going with a black version of the BOLTS jersey are true, this already blows it right out of the water. Also, has anyone heard anything about the Flyers' new alternate jersey? I remember hearing something about them thinking of bringing back the 80's/90's Orange jersey but I'm pretty sure that's nothing more than just a rumor.
