UNC/South Carolina doing color on color

CNbxdhVWUAA3LR4.jpg

It's gonna be a great-looking game!

you got that right

I wish this happened more often with rivalries whose color schemes have stark differences (as they do with USC-UCLA and BYU-Utah); makes for such a beautiful game.

Florida State-Miami, Oklahoma-Texas, Michigan-Ohio State, Indiana-Purdue, Alabama-Tennessee, Maryland-Penn State, and Iowa-Nebraska are just some that come to mind.

Carolina/UNC isn't a rivalry (anymore). Since we left the ACC in the 70's, we've played the Tar Holes six times since the early 80's.

Loserville aka Louisville have unveiled an alternate uniform to be worn at the September 17th game against Clemson:

At least you can see the cardinal on these helmets. Can ESPN block out from the neck down?

The sleeve pattern looks more like insect wings than that of a cardinal or any sort of bird.

Well I messed up that quote lol!

It's a good idea but to me it'd look like the Big 33 game when Ohio played Pennsylvania.

I thought that UConn's equipment manager obtained those Husky stripe helmets when they fell off an overloaded, NYC bound truck on I-91 headed to a sound studio for the new Power Rangers movie. They were so very, very awful. The new helmet is okay but the 2003-2012 block "C" helmet was light years better.

GFGS sucks for UConn and I'm pretty disappointed in Nike for moving on so quickly from the greatest helmets UConn have ever worn:

As for the earlier debate, I'm not a fan of teams wearing the same logo in multiple places of the same uniform. Be a little more creative than that. Not to mention logos on sleeves are a dated 80s look for me (albeit they were just thrown over sleeves stripes back then).

I mean, yeah, Clemson's logo is iconic, but it's iconic for being so generic that any high school team with a feral feline mascot can recolor it and slap it on their uniforms. University of the Pacific even stole it at one point.

Ball State appears to have added a helmet and made alterations to their white shells.

Huge downgrade for Ball State. They put out a video and the equipment manager sounded like an idiot. I wonder if the helmet stripes are something the coaches wanted. I remember Kentucky doing that because it was easier for coaches to watch film on lineman with the stripes as opposed to clean.

While I am disappointed with the BFBS and numbers on one side of the helmet, I am actually a fan of adding the stripe. Ball State's white helmets always looked very empty to me, especially with the clunky logo.

BFBS?? Black is one of their colors... BFBS is when a team uses black on the uniforms if black isn't one of their colors...

Im not sure about Ball State because I don't know their history with black, but I disagree. I think if a team historically uses black as a secondary or trim color and they make a black jersey it seems trendy and forced, and I would call that BFBS

So technically Louisville's black outfits have been BFBS?

I wouldnt call it that because i think theyve been wearing black jerseys since before the onslaught of BFBS. i think theyve owned it long enough for it to be natural for them

If you watch this video, it looks like Oregon has new silver and yellow helmets in the works.

You mean, South Carolina/UNC isn't a rivalry, because you guys aren't "USC," and you certainly aren't "Carolina."

haha

I wish Oregon would just slap a yellow O on that green practice helmet and call it good.

The new helmets look to have the same finish as the green Rose Bowl helmets. Rumors have said that Oregon would be getting new helmets without wings but they would maybe be keeping a couple winged helmets in the rotation.

Nah, I meant "Carolina/UNC," as that is what I typed. Carolina is USC because we were a university before they were a state (1801 was when Carolina got its charter, and CA became a state in 1850).

haha.

Maybe no Beckman means we'll actually wear blue more than orange this year? There's gotta be a bright side somewhere...

Not positive, but my guess is it was his choice to order the orange over blue jerseys for last season. They only wore the blue jerseys once or twice the season before that.

Minutia alert:

The decals for Utah's new satin helmet will be the first ever to drop the black stroke from the block U. Now to be fair, Utah has only worn the block U on the helmet for about 15 years. But it still feels funny to see.

Valparaiso (DI-FCS, Pioneer League) will get new white jerseys, updated from the Destroyer template. No official word yet, but it sounds like they will not get matching brown sets.
