NBA logo is on back, so it should be something between 2014-2016. Wordmark is similar to this what they have on their practice court. Maybe this is a hint (or an early version of a design or unused one by adidas) of Timberwolves new uniforms?

And I remember stating to my brother "So they listened to some kid for the team name". We all hated the name when it was announced. As for in print there was an article that mentioned it in the Toronto Star and if I recall a blurb in Gamepro magazine under their "Entertainment News Section" Here in Toronto? I thought you lived in the Pacific Ocean.

I've got to respectfully, but wholeheartedly, disagree with you there. One of the Wolves' biggest problems is that they aren't vibrant enough. Going with essentially Spurs-esque jersey that appears to be only black, white, and silver/gray, is basically the exact opposite of what the Wolves need to be doing. It looks like a create-a-team jersey. No indication of an identity whatsoever. I wouldn't even want this as an alternate. I'm not saying they've got to go crazy with green, but they need to use it. Green makes too much sense to use for them not to use it.

I remember the Toronto Star article and I remember them announcing it and discussing it on the Fan 590. I don't know if the Fan 590 has archives of their old shows but you should contact their website and inquire. What I'm saying is that girl wasn't the sole person who suggested Raptors ... it was one of the ten names from 2000 suggestions. From what I've read and found it seems like she just won a drawing of those suggested names. But, there were more factors than just her suggestions -- popularity of the the movie, dinosaurs at the time, focus groups, etc. 4 Quote "I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific." Back in the 1980s and 1990s it never occurred to me that one day I would have to cite something I heard or read to some stranger on something called a "message board" on something called an "Internet". I have a strong memory (especially from the 90s and 80s. When I was younger) and I remember specifically the little girl winning entry news bit. Now if you are so obsessed with tracking down a citation or radio report to verify the story, I've given you the avenues to pursue your research. Here is the Fan590 link http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/ Contact them and tell them you wish to listen to their radio archives from the 90s (providing they still have the original recordings on file somewhere) and they will help you on your way. Her is The Toronto Star website https://www.thestar.com/ Inquire about finding archives from the sports news stories from the 1990s, and I'm sure they will point you in the right direction. I'm hardly obsessed. I merely take issue with people who randomly throw out things like "a little girl picked the team name" while providing weak evidence. If you want me to believe that "a little girl picked the team name independently and the expansion group bypassed all focus group testing and a team naming contest (which is thoroughly documented) to listen to a specific little girl," you'd best provide a link to it (preferably The Toronto Star, due to the difficulty of linking to radio), please. Bold claims need bold, concrete (linkable, if discussing things on the internet medium) evidence provided by the claimant. If a student turned in a research paper with no specific citations and told their professor to "go look it up," they'd receive a failing grade on that paper. You don't have the best track record with citing your sources on your claims, and coupled with your gimmicks (a pathological hatred of the Mighty Ducks, blaming the North Stars' failure entirely on high school hockey, and pretending that your actually a giant octopus) growing stagnant, I would like you to buck that trend. Citation matters. MLA, APA, Chicago/Turabian, a simple link to a website or a picture, etc., are the backbone of any good claim in an argument. The joke's probably on me, though. AFAIK, I'm telling a sentient octopus to cite its sources on a story that's about 75% apocryphal. 7 Quote MLB: Project 32 (Complete), MLB: The Defunct Saga (Complete)

And I have no doubt the team picked a little girl's entry as the "winning" entry to whip up some positive PR. Never thought of it like that, that could very well be the reason. The equipment manager could have been sent the numbers from adidas with no clarification, and seeing the double outline he could have thought that it was the knicks changing uniforms and not the disingenuous outline-that's-the-same-color-as-the-jersey. And ultimately, it's the team who chose the name anyway. Picking a "winner" is a marketing scheme. This Mental Floss article is a good collection of how teams got their names. Don't have it with me or I would take some pics to go with the info to follow. The one I have is a blank, but clearly a team issue, given the differences between it and a 'normal' retail 2.0, which is rare anyway. I believe the team wore them numbered and everything for a casino night or similar event and those ones were auctioned. I don't know the timeline, but at some point they were way beyond being merely considered for use, as enough team stock exists to make up a solid 'Set 1'. Most teams use 2-3 sets of each jersey for a regular season. Whether the batch that mine came from went with the numbered ones to constitute a set or is a separate run, I'm unsure of.
