Bruce Bochy is wearing the wrong hat tonight, too. He's wearing the new BP cap instead of the poly AC game cap.

This is happening far too often with guys

I hate hate hate everything about the Padres identity.

I can only assume they're clinging onto navy because they are on the coast and water is blue? It's ridiculous how chicken :censored: they've been to go brown & yellow full-time.

So the D Backs need to take that primary set and burn them ASAP. That being said, I actually kinda like the Alts.

I must say, these matte helmets are absolutely gorgeous. I think the shiny helmet phase of MLB is dying slowly, but surely.

I'm guessing the O's will wear matte roads, with Jones and Schoop giving us a sneak peak during ST? I guess we'll see Monday at their first road game.

They need to ditch the gradient/pattern and make the stripes go all the way. Then I could live with these...

I'd be on board with everyone using matte helmets now. Hats are matte. Might as well match.

On the other hand, I do not like the matte effect in football.

The Diamondbacks alts with the teal are infinite times better than red-centric ones. For one, the teal makes it so much better and unique and two while the basketball net  snakeskin pattern needs to go away completely its done a lot more tastefully on the alts, especially on the pants where the red ones just look like the guy got his ankle sliced and is losing a ton of blood.

The DBacks alternates are better because A) the colors are interesting and B there's no in your face sublimination of red bleeding collarbones in front of the jersey. Looking at this straight on you're kinda fooled into seeing the good in them. Still, I have issues with the shade of teal (if they're gonna say its a throwback they're doing themselves a disservice because it's not the same color) and they still have crap sublimination on the back and on the pants legs and the truncated stripes still look ridiculous and unfinished. So yeah. They're better but they're not great.

The Yankees might look like they have a glossy black helmet.

The Yankees should put subliminated pinstripes on their matte helmets.

I dunno, there's something about the new uniforms from the Brewers that isn't clicking with me. I think it's the Glove hat combined with the modern uniforms.

I'm shocked. the Pirates have worn white for WHITE  for three games this year not black!

I don't know, I like 'em.

I do not like the home whites with the stripe-less pants though. The alts looked fine without the stripes.

I'm 90% sure Joey Votto is wearing old school long pants with elastic at the bottom

Take the godawful gradient off these, and make the stripes extend the length of the pants, and these would be halfway respectable uniforms. Still nowhere near being considered "good," but at least they'd kind of look like, y'know, a professional baseball team.

Even within this complete dumpster fire of an identity, there's something that can be worked off of and turned into a halfway decent set. Of course, the "D-Backs" (god I hate that nickname) are so, so far off from that, that even "halfway decent" is probably a complete pipe dream.

EDIT: That said, guaranteed within a couple years, if not by the start of next season, you see the home and road alts being worn far more often than the actual primaries. It's clear that just about everyone, players and fans included, prefer the alts. They'll probably sell much better, which would force the D-Backs' hands.

Matte helmets aside (not a fan at all), this would actually be a good starting point for a brown-and-gold Padres identity. That Padres wordmark is somewhat nondescript, but it does seem to be a modern take on the original 1969 Padres' wordmarks. The color scheme is dead-on.

You are "Spot-On" right.  The whole look is kinda a modern take on the original uniform.  I Iike them a lot.

I like the color palette, but I think they need a clean break from the 2004 typography. I associate it too much with the soothing, muted colors of the original redesign. I did love those colors for them, but could definitely get used to full-time brown and yellow.
