He had always gone by Mike, his middle name, because his parents had called him Mike as a kid and in school teachers couldn't pronounce Giancarlo so he just went by Mike even into the major leagues. When the Marlins rebranded and changed virtually everything about the team going into their new ballpark, Stanton took that as his opportunity to speak up and ask to be called Giancarlo, his first name.

It's a smart move on his part from a marketing standpoint too. Giancarlo Stanton is way more recognizable and unique than Mike Stanton. There were already 2 guys to play in the majors named Mike Stanton before the third one got there. I don't blame him for making the change.

BJ Sands
Those Bruins uniforms were... weird. Trying to be two things at once (modern and traditional) and did neither too successfully. Kind of a mess, but at the same time not terrible.

sportsfan0518
Wrong uniform and number! DeAndre Jordan was briefly number 9 and had on the Elton Brand era uniforms during his rookie year.

I thought about him for this thread, but came to the conclusion that the closest wrong uniform for him would be the short lived red alternates they wore when GABP first opened. every other uni he wore during his time with the team looks right. He wore the pullover uniforms in 4 all-star games and a World Series, the vested uniforms in his MVP year, the black heavy uniforms the last 6 years of his career which included 3 all star games.
