Changes to Titans uniforms in 2018 are 'not minor'

I know there's an NFL changes thread but I thought this might deserve its own topic since it appears to be the only substantial NFL redesign on the horizon.

From http://www.paulkuharsky.com/. Emphasis is mine.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans renovated their locker room last year. They renovated theirtraining room and weight room this year. They’ll renovate their uniforms next year.

“We’re picked and done and now they go to Nike production and whatever they do after that, controlling owner Amy Adams

Strunk told me as the Titans started practice Tuesday morning. “It’s done.”

As for specifics, she did well to stay tight-lipped though I tried multiple avenues to get a hint about any change.

“I’m going to let you play detective, she said.

It’s not minor. It’s not a total color change or anything like that. I think everybody is going to be very pleased with where it went.”

“Like with a lot of changes around here, we were due a change. We’ll roll it out before the season, they’ll get to see it. I’m not sure for what yet, or when. …It’s going to be so fun.”

“It’s going to be totally updated. I think the fans are going to be excited. I’m not seeing other teams have anything close to what we will have.”

As for the jersey you may buy now, she said it won’t feel out of place in a year.

“We’re not goiong to be orange or anything like that,” she said.

Most likely.  Get ready for whatever the 2018 version of the Bengals or Falcons turns out to be.

I immediately thought of the Bucs.

Crap.

Well they do share the same helmet stripe pattern as Baltimore.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I'm hopeful, which is probably a bad idea, but I can't really help myself. Everything that Strunk has done since taking over the team has been an improvement for the franchise so far, including going back to navy tops with white pants as the primary home combo. Hopefully we're more akin to Nike's Vikings then Nike's Browns.

If I had to shoot in the dark based on what has been emphasized through social media/other outlets, I'd predict they stick to just the two shades of blue while incorporating a greek pattern motif somehow, as seen in the first photo. The second photo could give a possible clue as to a new number font, along with a new diamond-esque pattern they have been utilizing in all of their more recent posts. Ultimately these probably won't amount to anything, but it's all that we've got now.

Unfortunately I've seen nothing indicating logo changes, but I could see the possibility of the sword logo being promoted due to its popularity with fans, and it's increased use as a prop for promo photos and pregame.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I still LOVE the Titans flaming thumbtack logo. It's wonky and kinda weird, but that's the best part! It's probably going to get replaced with some dumb boring Eurocentric looking shield split into four parts with a mini T and, like, the three stars from Tennessee's flag or something on the opposite corner.

As a Titans fan I'm hopeful. I love the font they've been using in their social media. A greek pattern with the numerals actually matching the font of the wordmark would be outstanding. The Titans have so much potential for an iconic look. They have a great name and colors. I'm really excited to see what they do. As long as the home jersey isn't monochrome, it's an upgrade.

My hopes:

Helmet

Light blue helmet, gray facemask.  Flaming thumbtack as the logo.

Home jersey.

navy jersey, solid light blue or silver numerals

light blue pants with the greek pattern down the sides in navy..

Away jersey

Navy numerals, light blue trim.  Navy pants with the greek pattern in light blue..

Uh Oh...nowdays that's usually not good.

Example: Browns

I'll be waiting to see what the Titans have come up with.

Neo-Titan Sky, Nikes revolutionary answer to baby blue, serves as a tributary link between the modern Tennessee Titan and fabled Roman Gods. The dark blue remains unchanged.

I don't expect a primary color or logo change. The team just decked out their facilities with some very expensive-looking logo-centric renovations.

Tampa bit the shoulder yolk, which is the definitive design trait on the current Titans set, IMO.

The Titans social media artwork is created by Ashley Strauss, an in-house designer with the Titans. I have never seen any connection between social media graphics and future changes in uniforms, which will likely be spearheaded by Nike.

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. As I said in my post I do realize that they more than likely aren't indicators of any future changes, but my thinking was that they could possibly provide some insight into things the ownership may tell Nike. Some of the things aren't just trends seen in the aesthetics of the post, such as the recent push of the "two-tone blue" nickname I've been seeing in releases by the team along with the use of the sword, as seen in this article-

http://www.espn.com/blog/tennessee-titans/post/_/id/19549/titans-owner-considering-uniform-changes-for-2018

As for the logo: Many fans call the primary logo the “flaming thumbtack” and have a strong preference for the secondary logo, a "T sword."

“They like the sword? Interesting,” she said. “That’s interesting. It’s a thought. I’d like to hear what the fans are saying.”

All that being said, I'm really just aimlessly speculating, we won't really know anything for a while it seems.

Ashley is the Auburn grad that got hit in the face last year trying to catch a kick off  (I got names confused).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't she created the look used on social media. I believe another female designer did, and Ashley is just carrying it over. The original creation was made specifically for social media (the Greek pattern, font, etc), and the creator mentioned that they were not made to reflect anything with the uniforms. Of course that could have changed now.

"I believe in Auburn and love it!"
