Rite of Spring 2018-“What happens in the playoffs stays in the playoffs”

Michal Kempny gets sent to the box for hip checking Jake Guentzel (okay I admit there was a bit of a leg stuck out there but come on you don’t call that in playoffs unless it’s the Penguins).

The Caps’ bottom six includes Tyler Boyd and Nathan Walker tonight. Chandler Stephenson is on the first line.

This is not gonna be easy.

I noticed that Pittsburgh seems to have more depth in all of their lines.

Washington probably has more fight in them. But the Pens are no slouches. Both teams are playing very good hockey. The Caps have a chance, but you're totally right when you said it won't be easy. It's a huge obstacle Washington has to overcome.

I understand why people here aren't too happy with Vegas right now... but, come on. What are the chances that what we are seeing with Vegas right now is a fluke?

You have an expansion team playing way, way, WAY above their heads right now. They're playing with house money right now, so there's really no need for people to be angry because, let's face it, most of us here might look back at this in a season or two when the Golden Knights aren't as good and think 'Man, that 2018 playoff run was so much fun to watch'

Despite being up 3-2 in the series and 1-0 in the game, the Caps look like they're the desperate ones out there. Selling out for everything. Probably the best course of action.

Vegas doesn't have an OITGDNHL moment, because they are an OITGDNHL moment.

This already feels so like Game 7. If the Caps lose this one, it’ll be backbreaking considering how many chances they had at a second in, uh, the second.

If you want an actual fun-to-watch playoff story it would be a team like the Sabres playing out of their minds and surpassing all preseason predictions.  There you have an honest to God fanbase who has been tortured for decades, having come a Brett Hull skate-in-the-crease away from potentially bringing a cup home, finally coming to the promised land in impossible fashion.  Hell, the Jets are a more fun-to-watch playoff story this year as you have a city who had their heart ripped away from then somehow get a team back, and on top of that reach greater heights than the original incarnation of the franchise.  Vegas isn't that.

I just woke up from a nap and had the craziest dream that The Caps actually beat The Penguins in a playoff series.

So how did The Caps blow this one?<_<

THE WASHINGTON CAPITALS HAVE DEFEATED THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS!!!!!!!

The beast is slain. Ovechkin has finally seen the Conference Finals now. This has to feel good for the Caps.
