vtgco Posted October 23, 2020 Share Posted October 23, 2020 I've noticed that all the images I've posted, which are hosted on my personal website, all stopped displaying on the site sometime in the last month. The "Insert Image from URL" option just results in an error whenever I try editing and relinking to those images. Certainly the issue could be on my end, but I thought I'd ask if there was some relevant change to the boards before I give up and reupload everything to Imgur. I'd appreciate any info you might have. I'm getting similar issues posting images. It seems like the forum no linger accepts images with URLs from sites that do not have an SSL certificate. So images with URLs that start with http:// will not display in the forums anymore, but, URLs starting with https:// will. Can a moderator confirm this please? DCarp1231 Posted November 15, 2020 Share Posted November 15, 2020 I’ve experienced those “background” ads where you have to scroll up to actually continue browsing the site. The border ads are really annoying as well and most of the ads at the top of the screen have caused me to accidentally log out when trying to look at notifications. It also doesn’t help when the ads cause the screen to jump all over the place. Then there’s the ad in the middle you need to scroll through. Unless Acura cars hijacks the entire screen with the border ad that grows before you are allowed to dismiss it. glad I’m not the only one bitching. I know the mods can’t do anything about the ads, but for anyone reading that can do anything, why does this site need more ads on it than any non-porn site on the internet? It really is worse than any other site I visit, and that’s not hyperbole. Guess the ads work! Seriously though - those are on mobile. My Ad Block that I had to use on this site on desktop is saying it's blocked 165 ads on this exact page while I've been typing this. In contrast, a "black-Friday deals" site that I have open has had 17 blocked, and it pretty much exists for ads. The combo of the ads and the sign-in bug really beg the question as to whether the ad-service or software are really the best choices for the site.
