CCSLC Board Technical Issues

Is anyone else having problems getting rid of the top screen ads? I'll click the X, but it just refuses to go away. Usually if I spam click it'll eventually close, but still. Gets pretty annoying.

I disregard them unless I'm trying to get at notifications. It's easier that way. Of course, that might be the cause for periodic inaccessibility when in phone, but I don't know.

It's where I sit.

I had a Sherwin Williams ad in a black bar at the bottom of desktop typing a few paragraph long post (oh hey its back and did the same thing), but it would pop up and refresh every 15 seconds. When it fully loads, it removes the cursor from the text box, so I have to reclick the text box to type. Super frustrating to have to do that about 10 times during a single post.

Had this happen to me too. Ads are getting in the way to type and check notifications. It sucks to type a few sentences and then have to refresh the page because an ad locked up the text box.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

It's ironic - a site that exists for people to complain against ads on uniforms has actually become what it hates.  This site is basically the NASCAR of the internet, and it's a shame.  I'll never understand why this site requires more advertising than any non-porn site.

If CCSLC was a uniform, it'd be this - in fact, this guy should be the mascot.

Maybe Chris should sell the space where the Maple Leaf / Star logo is.  A GE logo would look great there.

There is now an ad for some sort of "wholesome nutrition" (whatever that means) that makes it so until it goes away (there's no X) your screen is completely locked, you can't do anything but scroll (and click the ad, of course). It's like those mobile ads that take over the whole screen for a bit, but for PC. It's been getting bad for a while, but this is the first one to actually be site-breaking.

I've personally not been impacted with the ads as others have, but I did invite some friends to join the boards the other day. They immediately declined to do, stating they were bombarded with ads and couldn't even see the site itself upon loading. So it's now affecting the ability to recruit new members, which is also a problem.

I wonder if Chris' book has ads on every other page and in the middle of some.

Has this site been slow for anybody else lately? Sometimes it's slow loading page to page and I'm getting some "bad gateway" errors.

Yeah, I've had that same issue somewhat frequently lately too.

The ads at the bottom of the page now pop up or change while I'm typing. This happens about every 8 seconds, but i becomes the "active" part of the web page, so I have to click back into the reply box every 8 seconds.

This has happened to me for awhile. I thought I was imagining it. It's only certain style ads - ones that have an almost 'dashboard' shape to them.

Is it my imagination or is the search function getting even worse?

It has to be your imagination.  It can't get worse.

Can't even tell anyone to "use the search feature, NOOB!" because chances are that they did.
