I am so surprised at how many people love the coogie jerseys. As a Net fan, I think they are ok. Fine for an alternate. But I would have liked something different this year. In no way should they make that their full time look.

i think it's just a desire to see a little broader color palette. i'm not a big fan of black-and-white only. personally, i felt they left a lot of good ideas on the table when they did the 2012 re-brand.

not that the primary home/road looks are bad, or even boring. i think they're fine. i just prefer some color pop, and think the coogi does it in a nice way.

Two things:

1). The Nets should switch to that collar/sleeve/side piping permanently. That looks awesome.

2). I kinda wish more teams would embrace going a little bit crazy with the collar/sleeve/side piping. I think for certain teams ( Just spitballing here: Jazz sunset from the alt last year. Warriors extend/keep the bridge piping, Sixers or Magic add stars, Heat subtle flame pattern, Suns add the famous sun rays, Raptors claw slashes, Clippers... I dunno, boat sail patterns? Maybe the marine flags they’ve used before?, etc), it could really add to the look while not sacrificing the overall integrity of the look.

There’s heavy potential to abuse it and go too far with it, no doubt. But if done right, I think it could work. Some of my favorite looks ever (T Wolves tree pattern, FSU football jerseys before the current set) were rather subdued overall but with added sleeve/collar piping.

One of my favorites was TCU years back.

spacer.pngIt's basically just triangles but it added to their look for years. Collar and sleeve piping seems to be a lost art now. I also love the tree twolves pattern.

Are gradient patterns allowed? I'm not talking a full Utah jazz sunset, but what if a team wanted to go from red to black on their piping, top to bottom. No one's really going gradients there.

We see camo a lot with wordmarks. But camo along the piping? I'm thinking more along the line of teztures. You mention stars. That would be great. Maybe an ocean Beach wave blue color for the clippers. A textured wavy blue trim for the clippers could work. Utah could have a muddy sandstone texture on their trim.

The coogi set is one of the only ones to really open up the trim and piping to multiple colors. Let's see more NBA!

Leak: New Dallas Mavericks Uniform for 2020

July 11, 2019 - 14:54 PM

The Dallas Mavericks will be getting at least one new uniform for the 2019-20 NBA season, and thanks to a sports store getting a little ahead of themselves, we already know what it’ll look like. Via a Tweet from @WilliamAnoil, […]

The Mavericks need new branding desperately, perhaps more than any other team in sports. They have the colors right but the emo horse, wonky logos and horrible fonts just complete one of my least favorite identities ever.

The Nets need to return to some form of red, white, and blue. It just feels off to not have one team from New York repping that colour scheme. The Knicks won’t for obvious reasons, so the Nets need to.

It’s not like they’ve done much in black and white anyway.

I have a feeling the Nets will "find" new accent colors through experimentation with the Nike alternates. I can't see them switching to RWB, but years from now I can picture them with their current scheme plus one or two other colors

This is my favorite jersey since the move to Brooklyn.

This is also VERY good.

Also, I disagree that the Nets need to return to R/W/B, as black and white is understated and classy, and is actually unused enough on it’s own to be pretty unique. I also think that it works with the move from NJ to Brooklyn because it sort of gives them a bit of a cosmopolitan feel. This might come across as some Nikespeak style gobbledy(I am racially insensitive), but the move to the simpler color palate suits a city like New York. R/W/B is fine for a backyard BBQ, which seems suited to New Jersey. But if you’re attending a “black tie” event, you would probably end up doing that in the city. What better place to “dress up” for an event than in Brooklyn? I say keeping the old colors in New Jersey was a good move. If anything, I’d like to see a B/W version of their NJ J Kidd championship loss era set. That I think would translate fantastically to the B/W color scheme (especially considering basketball nets are white).

I get thats a bit a bit of a stretch, so don’t BBQ me too much for that, but I think the simple color scheme just fits a big concrete jungle better than your typical R/W/B.

Plus, Batman. He wore black. Gotham is basically NYC, so... 😂

EDIT: I have NO IDEA where the hell the "Racially insensitive" line came from. That's either a really strange autocorrect, or someone is messing around with posts 😯

DOUBLE EDIT: So, apparently, when you type gobbledy(I am racially insensitive), the boards changes the g00k part to (I am racially insensitive) 😂 Thee's an Easter egg I've never seen before here!

See, I could see the Nets add red and blue as accent colors like the Clippers kind of have lately. Personally, I don't feel that it works for the Clippers, but I think it could for the Nets.

The 2015 ASG jerseys are also a good example of a black heavy look with RWB included.

Nets have a top 5 look in the nba. All you fans of teams with colors enjoy your colors let us do us. Nets should only go back to rwb in throwbacks. Keep black and white with occasional charcoal jerseys and coogie variations. Only change I’d make is to a full time coogie set but I’m fine with as is. Rwb is wack now. Keep that in DC, we’ve evolved.

GO NETS.

Exactly this. Red and blue is overdone now it doesn’t look good anymore. Clippers should go back to that baby blue and orange. Pistons maybe that teal and red. The 76ers and wizards are probably the only team that “deserves” the red white and blue.

I love the nets black and white. It’s sleek. But has that nicer edge compared to the spurs who incorporate gray. Looks GREAT with that court design and the dark lighting they use at games.

Unpopular take:

Both the Wizards AND Capitals looked better in blue, black, and bronze 🤷‍♂️

Red, white, and blue is, to me, a quintessentially “New York” colour scheme. You’ve got one team from the city wearing it in every other “Big Four” league. The Rangers, Yankees, Giants.

The Knicks will never give up on blue and orange (nor should they) but the Nets can make red, white, and blue their own in interesting ways. Especially if they go all-in on the Dr. J look.

I agree only bc it’s a superior color scheme. Rwb is overdone but for DC and Philly it’s perfect. That scheme would work great for a lot of other cities. Magic come to mind for the NBA.

GO NETS.
