It's like the Gods of Chaos wanted to have some fun with the playoffs and, lo and behold, this is what we get...

Florida stunning Boston and Seattle stunning Colorado.

Man, I love Chaos.

I don't want to say that the NHL regular season is a waste of time, but.......... these 2nd round matchups just feel random as hell.

Maybe it's the lack of reseeding

Vegas/Edmonton AKA 1 vs 2 in the 2nd round should be the conference finals.

I really thought Boston was going to make a deep run this year; they looked the part. Hats of to Florida, just goes to show how unpredictable the Stanley Cup playoffs are. Honestly the most entertaining playoff in sports.

It's cool to see Toronto in the 2nd round too. Between either Florida or Toronto, we'll have a team in the ECF that hasn't been there in a long, long time, which is always fun to see.

With the Kraken advancing, we are also guaranteed a Stanley Cup winner who, at the latest, last won the cup in 2006 (the Hurricanes). Only the Devils are the other team to win since the turn of the century. 3 teams left haven’t won the cup at all.

Too much chaos is too much of a good thing.

We haven't had a chalk Cup Final since 2001. God forbid ONE year we don't get chaos overload.

Can't hear you over all the fun we're all having with this first round.

Seriously, who wants the postseason to be boringly predictable "best regular-season teams go to the Finals" bull:censored: all the time? The chaos and unpredictability is part of the excitement of playoff hockey.

Pace all the chaos talk, pretty much every Final is "team with more eventual Hall of Famers wins." The only time that hasn't happened in recent memory was when the Blues won, which makes three dumbfounding chokes for Bergeron and Marchand, now that I think about it.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Not all the time, but once in a blue moon. Last Stanley Cup Final with the two best regular season teams was 2001. That's a LONG time ago.

I just don't subscribe to the idea that playoff hockey is ONLY exciting because of chaos and unpredictability.

Blackhawks-Bruins was a legit matchup regardless of the little numbers by their names. So was Bruins-Canucks, so was Hawks-Bolts, so were a bunch of recent matchups. NHL standings are Whose Line Is It Anyway, ah, well, anyway. Don't work yourself up over it.

If the Bruins wanted to fulfil their G-d given right to represent the East in the SCF they could have finished off the Panthers when they were up 3-1. Or 3-2. Or when they had the lead with a minute to go in game seven.

You're acting indignant because the hockey gods aren't giving you an EC#1 vs WC#1 matchup but... pssst... the hockey gods aren't real. That matchup not happening is on the Bruins not getting it done and no one else.

The Hockey Gods are real.... hence why the President's Cup winner has won the Stanley Cup as many times as they've been knocked out of the 1st round. 8 times. They like to screw with each and every fanbase. And since the Vegas fanbase has started to realize how really difficult getting to the Cup is, the Hockey Gods have decided to screw with Boston this year.

In all reality, if you looked at the who advanced up through Saturday night, it was all the higher seeds. So inevitably there were bound to be some upsets. I don't know what the odds are, but I'm pretty sure that probably most Stanley Cup playoff years have 2-3 lower seeds moving on. I'd be curious to see the last year that all the higher seeds moved on into the second round.

Colorado was only favorited based off pedigree.   They were too banged up to make a long run.

Still good enough to beat the Kraken. But didn't.

The 2023 Boston Bruins -- biggest choke in NHL history?

No way. The Lightning had only three fewer wins than this year's Bruins, and they got swept. Getting swept makes it so much more chokey.

You could also include 2010 (Marchand didn’t play, Bergeron did) when the Bruins choked away a 3-0 series lead to the Flyers and 2012 when they completely come out flat (again) in a home game seven in the first round as defending champions.

Some tragic news.

The SS Avalanche sank off the coast of Seattle.

The early reports was that it struck an iceberg and sank.

The "official" report is that it struck a pod of whales and went down.

But the local fishermen tell a different story.

They say it was sunk by something else.

They say it was a monstrous creature living deep below the surface.

A creature few men dare talk about.

An octopus the size of a mountain.

Now everyone chalks it up to the fishermen drinking too much alcohol.

They say its just superstition and myth.

Childish fairy tales.

The locals know better.
