They should be careful what they wish for. Harris was the one who hired Hinkie to initiate “the process”, then essentially abandoned that team to go buy more toys, and is now involved in a war against an entire community.

Counterpoint: he's not Dan Snyder

It's really funny to remember the time when Dan Snyder came in, signed Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders and Andre Reed and it seemed like they were going to run the NFC. Plus they had drafted LaVar Arrington too, who at the one seemed like the next Lawrence Taylor (obviously he wasn't).

Those weren't great signings, but it was at least an investment to go all in on the team.

Guess he just got used to free money for doing nothing.

Cripes, man...I forgot all about that.

If ever there were a candidate for players in the wrong uniform thread....

Wrong uniform, wrong number...just wrong all the way around.

Spoiler

Oh but wait, it gets worse...apparently he too had a Jerry Rice moment in Bronco blue:

Warren Moon as a Kansas City Chief

And for an additional bit of weirdness, Mike Vrabel as a Chief in those Texans uniforms they wore in 2009. They were playing the Cowboys and I believe this was Miles Austin’s breakout game too.

And this is Larry Johnson carrying the ball in that same game in one of his last games as a Chief. Guy got hit in the head so many times he believes in QAnon now.

Ha, I knew about Art Monk (and John Riggins and Ronnie Lott and LaDanian Tomlinson and every other retread vet that ended up signing in green 😄). I even knew about Thurman Thomas and Cris Carter somehow finishing up in Miami...but I mean I COMPLETELY forgot about Andre Reed. That's a whole other level of WTFery. And no one should never be sentenced to having to remember the greatest journeyman backup Super Bowl-winning starting quarterback in NFL history*...

Spoiler

Rypien, of course.

SUPER BOWL LVIII

Buffalo over Dallas

AFC feels absolutely stacked this year. Top 4 from last season just seem to be far and away the best 4 teams in the conference, if not the league. I'd be stunned if the eventual champion is not Kansas City, Cincinnati, Buffalo or Jacksonville. The Chargers, Jets and Dolphins all have the quality to knock off one of those elite four teams and insert themselves into the conversation. Tennessee, Baltimore, New England and Cleveland have shown the ability to be playoff contenders in the recent past too. 4 really good teams will miss the playoffs in the AFC

In the NFC it really feels like a 3-team race, with Philly, San Francisco and Dallas being the main contenders. Teams that lose in the Super Bowl typically have a difficult time in the following season (though the last two teams who lost the previous year's Super Bowl both made their conference championship games) but more crucially for the Eagles, they struggled against elite QB's last season and this season they face a gantlet of the league's best QB's. San Francisco's biggest question mark is QB health and can their defense remain this elite unit following Demeco Ryan's departure to Houston. If Trey can make the jump this season, the 49ers look to be far and away the best team in the conference. If he's not and they're still dependent on Brock Purdy who's coming off of a major injury, I expect the 49ers to regress a little bit.

It really does seem like it's lined up for Dallas in a sense. There's really only two other elite teams in the conference (one of whom hasn't beaten the Cowboys with Dak at the helm since 2019), the Cowboys addressed all of their needs on paper, have arguably the best defense in the league and have consistently proven to be one of the league's best offenses for the last 4-5 seasons. It just feels like if it's not this season for the Cowboys to make a deep playoff run, then they never will.

Which of course means the Cowboys will finish 7-10 and miss the playoffs entirely because that's what they do when they're playing with expectations.

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

Outside of PHI/SF, the rest of the NFC is meh. Who else are they going to pick- THE LIONS?

I would agree that outside of Philly and SF there’s not much to pick from in the NFC. I would just say that the mass of mediocrity certainly includes Dallas.

Let me make the safest prediction possible in the NFL. The Cowboys will make the playoffs and lose in the divisional round.  It’s the only thing that always happens.

What’s amazing is they had this history of playoff exits and then went out and hired a coach who was basically known for that.  Funny stuff.

A coach who will also now call the plays this coming season...
