The diamond sleeve patch with just the Old English "D" would have made a much better cap logo.

The patch actually works as is.  M-1 (Woodward Avenue) was the first paved road in America in 1909.  The subtle 3's on either side represent the 313 area code.

They can't be serious with this hat. This is the worst MLB hat of all time without a doubt. I'm expecting them to use the regular D hat with this at some point, possibly even right away.

I don't hate it? Like I feel like I should but this is oddly nice

Hmm, this promo photo show a player issued jersey, as we see on the extra label, the bottom one with the QR code....... don't think we ever saw a promo shot like that, weird, guess they only have made jerseys for the players so far?

Look ridiculous with tree rows of labels.

And all 3 are hidden when they actually play, right? Or will the top one be visible?

But as it hangs there, a shirt with 5 different random stickers. 😕

Oh no, I know the patch is fine as-is. I'm saying a tweaked version of that patch design would have made a much better cap logo than the awful "DETROIT" wordmark.

This set is definitely not my favorite of the City Connects, but the jersey itself is fine I guess. I do wish there was some orange in the jersey, since they do use orange on the road. But the worst part is the hat. That sucks. I feel like the neatest part of the City Connect was some cool new logos that would be worn on the hats, like the Rays, Rangers, or Cubs. But just straight up “DETROIT” on a hat is awful. Literally anything else that was somewhat unique would make this set better.

I hope the Twins hat doesn’t end up saying just Twin Cities or Minnesota in a boring font like this… 🙄

It'll be like the Dodgers, they'll start with a script hat and move to a normal home hat with a bill colored to match the newly introduced CC jersey color

Not only is it one of the worst on field hats ever, it immediately follows one of the best hats ever (SkyRay) released by Nike.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because of fashion. The City Connect program is trying to get jerseys and other products to sell and I would think people are more than likely going to pair the more tame neutral colors with their jeans, jackets, etc.. Colors like navy, black, and grey can pair better with everyday clothing than something as vibrant as orange, pink, or neon green. Not speaking for everyone... just maybe the general public.

I think that was maybe true 10-20 years ago but we're at a point right now where colors are in, bright ones too (think Barbie, Y2K aesthetic), and the throwback nostalgia cycle is pointing to a pre-navy blue era. There is a certain #darkmode aesthetic that's always a possibility for these looks and is more obviously different than the usual baseball whites or light grays. If they wanted to do bright colors they would (see: San Diego, Tampa Bay, Boston).

Damn those suck. It looks like a soccer team decided to start a baseball team in their spare time.

A uniform fit for a bowling league.

This made me realize the intent of the vertical stripes on the Pistons city jersey. Probably should've just read the press release at the time but I rarely bother with digging through Nike-speak.

I predict the next two City Connect designs—Guardians and Cardinals—will provide a much-needed break from the deluge of black and dark navy, but then we’ll get another black-heavy design with Toronto at the end of the month.

You are probably correct. I would imagine Cardinals will be a red jersey considering they got rid of the spring training reds this year.

I'm thankful the Pistons have at least given up on the whole "Motor City" shtick, as bad as their alts still remain. Sad to see the Tigers have taken over the flame. Nike pretty much just recycled that design with a change of colors.

I don't even think my Dyson sucks as much as these do.

If there is a quote that sums up the entire Cash Grab Connect experience, it's definitely this one. Well done!

Yeah, apparently somebody at Nike needed an answer to the question "what would a soccer jersey look like with buttons?"
Nobody else needed it, but apparently...
