Bryce wore last year's jersey last night.

Making it evident the newer one's are more saturated/darker looking. More players should be like Bryce.

Old pants too

The Phillies’ City Connect cap has a pattern underneath the brim, so it’s not unprecedented for an on-field City Connect hat to have it.

If anything, all of the attention given to the inside of the hat adds credence to it being the official on-field hat, in my opinion.

Huh, so it does. Also noticed that Baltimore's hat has a design too. Well 🤬.

I still think the Mets one is just a fashion cap, as the other one in the picture with a jersey makes more sense.

Another possible Mets leak.

No "sun collar", and the placket doesn't seem to be insanely narrow. If this is real, it would appear to be retail. Either way, it's fugly. Also, I'm reading the base color as gray. Better hope the opposing team has an alternate jersey. If not will we have gray vs gray games? Should be super...drab.

People who want to are just going to do it illegally (and get their legs broken when they can't pay their losses), so might as well legalize it, regulate it, and tax it.  It's not for me, but someone with a problem is either going to lose their house legally, or lose it illegally, which leads to even worse things.

No need to waste limited resources stopping things that can't be stopped, so just make it as "safe" as possible, and instead of spending money policing it, make money by taxing it.

This is the same bare utilitarianism behind marijuana legalization and I would argue that both have made life a little more sad, crass, and gross. Picture a subway tunnel plastered in DraftKings billboards reeking of stale pot smoke. Is this progress?

That's what New Era is turning into...I always buy a 5950 to go to a new stadium. Went to Texas last season for the first time, went to around twenty Lids, five Rally House from California to Arlington and ended up finding the only decent one at the stadium after seeing about 40 of my size at the other stores that had wrong sizing, awful stitching or way off-center brim, batterman or front logo... New Era definitely feels like a cheap-ass gas station brand these days.

They are, and cap collectors are taking notice.

Back in my 20s I had a bit of a hat collecting problem (spending a decade working for New Era and Lids/GenesCo didn’t help, either), and now have a few hundred old poly US made 59Fiftys. I thought for a long time that it was a waste of money and space, but with the demand going up so heavily on these things (because you literally CANNOT get them in the same quality any longer), it’s actually worth quite a bit of money now. Like, probably MORE than what I initially paid for all of those stupid hats.

I thought the Red Sox were doing red on Friday, CC on Saturdays and white on Sundays? They’ve worn the yellows the entire series. What a joke.

It is Marathon weekend, so there's a plausible reason to deviate from the plan at the moment.

This outlines the local success of City Connect. People in Boston would understand this uniform selection, and if City Connect is supposed to do what its name says, this is how you do it.

I think this was the original plan for this City Connect jersey. But they were deemed such a success that they eventually got worn for another series later in the year, and then random series throughout the year, and then the manager said that this season they would be Saturday home game specials, so I don't really know what to expect at this point. But in theory, yes, your point is correct, it just requires a level of restraint from the marketing suits that we don't see much.

I don't disagree at all, but to my point, the latter was happening regardless.  I don't get needing a joint when I'm going to work on the subway at 7:00 AM (it's actually worse on the trollies for some reasons that I can only speculate about) but people gonna do what people gonna do no matter what.  I'd rather invest the resources in fighting crimes that have a higher impact than on controlling the uncontrollable.

But you're right, and it sucks.

How many hats did you end up having?  I actually have a bit of a hat spending problem...but baseball hats are just so cool.

IDK why people can't confine themselves to edibles in public, but maybe that's just me. The gambling ads have been wonderful for me: they gave me the final push to stop burning time watching baseball on TV. I just pretend the games aren't available, and catch the highlights on orioles.com. Saves tons of time!

Longer time to hit you?  Actual weed is cheaper if you get it from "your guy" rather than a dispensary (I assume... don't know, as I only dabble in the edibles and mostly just to help with sleep.)

Well, edibles are marketed and sold to professional classes for whom weed is no longer a taboo, not the people of the street. Plus old habits die hard. Smoking all sorts of things in public is a societal annoyance that's nothing new though.

(Also, side effect of legalization is that corporate dispensary weed suuuucks. It's like if we ended Prohibition, but the only legalized alcohol was Bud Light, and half the bottles came out of the brewery flat.)

Didn't they do that last year, too?

I think they've done it as long as the CCs have been around, yeah, but then last year there were other seemingly random times when they'd wear them for a whole series. I still abhor them and I silently judge anyone I see wearing the merch.

Really?? I used to smoke a ton in college. Like all day every day. I don't really care for it at all anymore, but the few times I have smoked anything from a legal dispensary, it kicked my teeth in 🤣 That might just tell you what kind of dirt grass I was smoking back in the day I guess.
