ManillaToad
Stingers was my choice for bee-related name. Swarm is stupider though so it makes sense they chose that for the competition

It's amazing that no one has ever thought of that before or put in the time to trademark it! 3 Quote I HATE THIS TIMELINE
Dynasty
Not too big on Stingers. Haters will just call them the "Stinkers." It reminds me of Seattle and when the Sockeyes name came up. Although it was relatively popular here, the name could've ended up with them mockingly called "Suck-eyes" or "Suck-asses."

You can do that with every single name: Leafs-> Laffs Bruins->Ruins Oilers->Soilers/Coilers Flames->Lames/Shames Capitals->Crapitals etc No matter what they pick someone will come up with a derogatory pun to disparage the team. Its inevitable. If they don't go with 'Stingers', it should be because it sounds like a Junior Varsity Girls Softball team nickname, not because it sounds like 'Stinkers'. 4
The_Admiral
Crapitals and The Beej are the only top-tier pejorative nicknames. Imagining "more like the Anaheim Dicks" is just kinda sad. 1 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The_Admiral
Rags and Perds are good. Black Cocks is lame yet richly Freudian. 1 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Carolingian Steamroller
Don't the Avalanche have a yeti foot as a secondary mark? I know they took it off the jersey a few years back but is the trademark still active?

WBeltz
Back to Utah. So are the uniforms going to be just black and white? No accent colors or stripes? Will they even be for sale? I'm curious about that aspect of it.

Right but I'm more curious if Colorado still has intellectual property interest in that logo. Checking the USPTO, the mark is still active and was renewed in 2023.
gosioux76
I know I've suggested this before, probably even on this thread, but I'd love to see this recreated into a U shape. This is one of my all-time favorite logos.
SenatorJake
If your team is playing a road game in the Bay area and you don't spend the evening referring to them as the Sharts, why did you even bother becoming a hockey fan in the first place? 1
