You know how it goes. If your team missed the playoffs, your offseason starts now.

Atlanta and Washington have already started with the firing of their HC's. Carolina has also fired their GM.

Poor Arthur Smith. Now all he has is all of his daddy’s FedEx money to fall back on. What a stupid hire that was.

Flush the B.S?   Is there anyone in the NFL more full of B.S. than this addle brained pinhead?

I think Sirianni gets another year, but if the Eagles are one and done, he'll change coordinators.  Why he thought that going with Matt Patricia as DC with a few games left in the season is such a head scratcher.  Patricia is not a good coach, either as an assistant or as head coach.

If he wants to coach again, Ron Rivera will probably end up somewhere as a "Senior Defensive Assistant."   I don't know how he would do talking about football for FOX, NBC, ESPN or CBS.  Bill Cowher said recently on the Pat McAfee Show that working for CBS talking about the NFL helps him stay connected with the league without the stress of coaching and if he didn't get to talk about the NFL, he would be bored during the NFL season.  Former Colts Coach Chuck Pagano (who is on McAfee's show every Thursday) also agreed.

As for Belichick?  I feel that if he goes anywhere else, he will install the "Patriot Way" at his new place and doing so by bringing back as many former assistants as he can like Patricia, Joe Judge, Josh McDaniels and Bill's two sons Steve and Brian.  He's not going to steal an assistant from Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan.

I love how he preaches like he's some guy that's won like 10 Super Bowls and knows all about winning, when he's won one Super Bowl and hasn't been back in 13 seasons.  He's not some untouchable legend.   And (caption obvious here) he causes half the distractions he's saying they can't have.  Complete and total idiot.  I feel bad for fans of his.  Not because he's letting them down... but because he's not.

You act like it's his decision.  He has no say in the coordinators.  Howie and Lurie will give him a list and say to pick from it, and if he disagrees, he'll be gone just like Pederson.

It wouldn't shock me if they've already made their decision about him and he's gone no matter what (barring a Super Bowl appearance, and lol the Ass Birds certainly aren't doing that.) My posts may sound like hyperbole, but if anything, they're underselling what's been going on.

The Niners season is still going for at least another two weeks (hopefully into February) but we already have multiple teams asking about our assistant GM Adam Peters and our DC Steve Wilks. Since John Lynch is currently both GM and President of Football Operations, there's talk of just having Lynch as President and giving Peters the GM job to keep him around. Hopefully that's what happens.

Can I go in just a little bit on this?

For about the first third of his sole season as OC in Nashville, Arthur Smith didn't know what the heck he was doing. BUTTT...once he channeled his inner Matt LaFleur (we'll come back to that), remembered that Derrick Henry is the biggest starting tailback in the league, and really turned him loose, we saw him run all over folks, which then set up some stuff in the passing game.

Now, I know it seems like forever ago, but Marcus Mariota was still the starter then. 2019 was the season he got benched and Ryan Tannehill took over...at which point it also seemed like the team sprang to new life. Anyway, that turnaroud—and King Henry's dominance, buoyed by at the time one of the best defensive fronts in the game—somehow sprang Arthur Smith's name into the HC candidate pool.

So, that said...one of the greatest mysteries mankind has encountered is how the Snatit—the Snatit—got not one but TWO consecutive OCs into head coaching positions. Yet somehow, it happened. One of them is still head-coaching up in Green Bay and doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. The other one might be lucky to get on some squad as a position assistant.

You know what, while we're discussing the Snatit...I'm wondering if this is the time Ran Carthon decides to cut sling with all things old and renew the entire pipeline. King Henry is a free agent (watch hin end up with like Kansas City or—maybe Philly, since they've made a mini-habit of signing former Snats), and Vrabel was linked to New England probably five weeks into the season...if Belichick does indeed exit stage right, maybe he goes there? Either way I don't really think Vrabel will be in Tennessee next season...or at least he shouldn't. But who knows, maybe Carthon likes him enough to stay loyal to him. If I were him, I'd blow it all up right here and start all the way over, building around Levis, Spears, and whoever of that D-line rotation chooses to stay.

Now as for the team the Snatit ran out od the playoffs....sheesh. How did Jacksonville pull an uno reverse on themselves??? I mean yes, I get it, Trevor Lawrence got hurt. But really, I saw all I needed to see from the Jags back in like week 5 or so when KC somehow broke legal protocol by playing a road game and rolled up into Duval and won 17-9 (I think it was). That's when I knew this squad wasn't getting anywhere this season; the subsequent weeks just reinforced it. And then the bottom just fell out in the back third of the season...the exact opposite of what happened last season, hence the uno reverse. They got some things to think about next season, especially now that Houston seems to have asserted itself as a real contender for the South crown going forward. (And Indianapolis can still make a play for it, too.)

Anyway, those are my non-professional quick quips for now...

Doug Pederson claimed that both of his coordinators were coming back after 2019.  Then the next day he announced they were fired, because Howie and Lurie fired them.  They allowed Pederson to sell them on internal promotions, who they also fired after 2020.  They gave him one more chance to pick people from their list or come up with someone they approved of, and he put his foot down and said his OC and DC would be two guys promoted from within - so they fired him.

After they trusted Sirianni with picking the DC (for whom he basically asked Vic Fangio "hey, who do you like?") and promoting the OC from QB coach (which the front office endorsed and was a foregone conclusion because he's had a tight relationship with Hurts from when Hurts was in HS, and on paper, it made sense), he's done.  They will absolutely provide him with the list, and if he doesn't like it and can't sell them on his choices, he'll be fired.

It's just a matter of who, other than a guy just desperate for his first crack at being a HC (which was what Pederson and Sirianni were) would ever want a job where you can get fired the year after barely losing a Super Bowl and still making the playoffs.  It's a different level of pressure that only a handful - if that - of other coaches experience.

Wink Martindale has resigned from the Giants.  Not sure what his contract says about timing for new gigs, but if I'm the Ass Birds, I'm signing him tomorrow as a "sr. defensive assistant".  Not do do anything this week, but just to have him inked for when they inevitably fire the trash coaches they have, which honestly should have been after the Seattle loss.  Shock and awe is sometimes the way to get results.

Tension between he and Daboll apparently. After that tough Giants season Daboll's surely on the hot seat next season.

Did Penix cost himself any money last night?

Probably. After the Texas game he rocketed way up. But last night not being able to handle pressure probably tanked his value. I think he went from first or second round to third to fifth.

If it comes out he was injured, that's probably even worse, given his history.

Maybe his career trajectory is Teddy Bridgewater? Knowing what we know about him, where would he be drafted today?

He would have been a Day 2 pick, probably late in the third knowing what we know now about him.
