Black pants with black sox for the Panther would = ugly.

Just like it does with the Saints, Jags, Ravens... ugly ugly ugly.

No, in style.

They would look better in some purple striped, 1976 style tube socks instead, right? :P

318 posts 315 of them about socks

A. striped socks are not out of style, plenty of teams still wear them

B. "in style" does not mean it looks good

this was once in style, but did people even then think it looked good?

That was in 2000. How the hell did you get my Senior picture?

If they go with the blue socks, I could dig this. Unfortunately, we all know they won't, and so another team gets "Berganized".

A- Only 4 teams in the NFL still wear striped socks, with some of their uniform choices. Miami (only with aqua pants), Jets (only with green pants), KC and Chicago. That's it.

B- No, in some cases you are right. But, "in style" is what is cool and "in", right now, with modern-day America and modern-day football uniforms, at every level. Might change again 20 years from now, but right now, its the way it is.

It was part of their initial uniform design at the time of their establishment.

If these do pop up for real, they should use them with the white jerseys and the blue socks.

Or the blue jerseys.

Just not the black jerseys. Especially not since they have silver helmets.

Blue Jersey, Black Pants....

like this?

if there's one team in the league that should be in all black, it's the panthers, seeing as real panthers are, y'know, all black.

I for one am very interested to see how this turns out. if they use the same tapered stripe on the pants, but in carolina-blue trimmed in silver (like the shoulder stripe), and they wear blue socks, this could be a really sharp look.

EDIT: yes, exactly like that post above me! lol.

Although they're hard to seed sometimes, the Broncos have an orange stripe right under the navy blue, and the Bills have a blue strip right under the red.

Beat me to it. Also, I believe there are a few other teams (Colts, Browns, maybe more) who have striped sox in their package, but never wear them. Why? Most likely because the players don't want to... which as I always say, is like asking your plumber what color to paint your bathroom walls.

Too bad it's not gonna help them vs my Bucs :P

It would be sick to see the Panthers cruise out in all black... And then to see the Bucs take the other side of the field in all Pewter.

You are correct. Forgot about the Pats.

I have a feeling, that there is no black pant (yet) for the Panthers. The whole "blackout" thing, probably has been blown out of proportion.

Of course, nobody (except Pantone) knew that the Texans had red pants, until a day before they wore them last year, so who knows?

Monochrome, like alternate jerseys, are ok as a once a year/prime time thing. We all know, however, that's not how it stays with most teams.

Chances are, if this happens, within two seasons the Panthers will be wearing all black every time the situation calls for them to wear black jerseys (see Seahawks, Seattle; Bills, Buffalo).

Oh well, at least it's nothing but the current "in" trend. In a few years it'll be gone.
