BigEd76
Didn't expect a win let alone a shutout! The Flyers usually get eliminated by 5 or 6 goals....Detroit scored on the PP with less than a minute left after Columbus was called for too many men on the ice. 6-5 and a sweep

BBTV
Who has more personality: Flyers' coach John Stevens, or a 2x4.Seriously - this guy can't remain coach after this year. Bring Hitchcock back, or get someone with a pulse. jkrdevil
The best goaltending duel in the playoffs just finished. Devils beat the Hurricanes in Game 5, 1-0 to take a 3-2 series lead. 85 shots combined taken in the game by both teams and only 1 goal. Brilliant performance by both Ward and Brodeur. BTW, that shutout by Brodeur ties him for the career playoff shutout record.
HedleyLamarr
We're in a glass delay in Anaheim....the glass between the two benches was shattered by a check that looked relatively soft, in comparison with other hits we've seen. This delay's gone over 10 minutes, easily. There was also a 4.0 earthquake in southern California during the first intermission.....This has been a strange 2nd period. Sport
The Blue Jackets were eliminated tonight in one of the best hockey games I've ever seen that was tainted by one of the worst calls I've ever seen. The first period ended in a 3-1 score in Detroit's favor. In the second period the Blue Jackets tied it with goals from Rick Nash and RJ Umberger. Detroit went back up by two and once again the Blue Jackets were able to tie it at 5 with goals from Kris Russell and Fredrick Modin and the second period ended in a 5-5 tie. The entire third period was controlled by Columbus who missed scoring the go ahead goal a few times and then came THE CALL. At 18:46 the Blue Jackets were given a too many men on the ice penalty. This isn't out of the ordinary except that it was one of the most chicken- penalties at the end of a game that I've ever seen. Jake Voracek was literally 6 feet from the bench, he was forced by the backskating official (who eventually called the penalty) to slow down to avoid contact with him, the new player on the ice touched the puck several feet from Voracek on a puck that was dumped by Detroit. It was by definition, too many men on the ice, but it could've gone uncalled especially since it had been an entire period of "let them play" hockey up until that point. Johan Franzen scored on the ensuing power play with 46 seconds left in the game. The Red Wings fans I was with weren't happy to win a game like that on a call like that. You'll say, they were down 3-0, who cares? I do, they played their hearts out in the last game to avoid getting swept and they got dicked over again. We're just a small expansion team from central Ohio who had seemingly every possible bounce going against us and despite how hard we tried it wasn't enough. It was frustrating as hell to watch. Detroit is hard to beat, but they're impossible to beat when all the breaks go their way. This team may go on to do bigger and better things down the road, but the 2008-2009 Columbus Blue Jackets will always have a spot in my heart. I've watched them in 86 games this season and it's been nothing but a pleasure. It's a damn shame the season had to end on such a bad note. Thanks, boys. Cujo
It's beginning to look like the 2009 San Jose Sharks are all but done for. Lucky for them, they can still sip out of and take turns sharing the President's Cup during the offseason.

Neon_Matrix
Ron Wilson is laughing his ass off somewhere right now. Guess he wasn't the problem.I bet $5 Joe Thornton will be out of there in a year. The presidents' trophy winning team's main star will get one more chance before being shipped out. Another playoff failure, another disappearing act by the teams biggest star. And yes Ronnie is laughing his ass off from the golf greens with Bob Gainey and his group.
