njmeadowlanders 162 Posted April 27, 2009 Well, we all know Bettman & Co. is pulling for Carolina to beat the Devs so they can get an Ovechkin/Crosby matchup that still won't be seen by anybody because nobody gets Vs.And yes, that means I'd be totally STUNNED to see the Rangers pull Game 7 out of their hats on Tuesday night, despite taking the first 2 on the road @ the Verizon Center. What proof do you have? "We all know" isn't proof. The Devils-Hurricanes series has been a close series, aside from Games 1 and 6. I expect a 1-0, 2-1 game on Tuesday. It won't matter, Versus will be airing both Eastern Conference semi-final matchups ad nauseum, unless they air a Detroit game one night, or have one of the 3 east time zone games wait an extra day, to accomodate TV.Well of course there's no proof, but you're telling me the NHL wouldn't love to get an Ovechkin/Crosby series handed to them?
Wheelhouse 0 Posted April 27, 2009 They're going to rig it so Crosby and Ovechkin can meet in the finals somehow, switch Detroit with Washington.

Sport 14,044 Posted April 27, 2009 3 for the Vezina: Backstrom, Mason, and ThomasWe know Steve Mason won't win it after the way he played in the playoffs. I know it's a regular season award, but you can't unring a bell. A lot of voters won't be able to seperate his regular season play from the post season and Backstrom's team didn't even make the playoffs so it looks like your Vezina winner is Tim Thomas from the Boston Bruins.

rams80 4,272 Posted April 27, 2009 Brashear out for 6 gamesSo much for that conspiracy. I mean....Avery only got sat by his coach because of his stupid penalties. No league intervention there.

Don 7 Posted April 28, 2009 The Fat Bearded Caps fans side of the storyFor equal coverage of "Watergate". besides the fact that this vindicates Caps security, what a wonderful job of reporting by Dan Steinberg. he got the right information, cross checked everything, he did his job, unlike ESPN taking a tip from an anonymous source claiming to be from the Post saying that Mike Green and Donald Brashear have been suspended for 1 game. Stupidity at its highest.and while im on my soapbox: the Brashear suspension: ricockulous. i know im not the first one to say this, but the NHLs double standard in handing down justice is ridiculous. Sean Avery, over the course of this series, has punched Varlamov in the face, butt ended Jurcina, whacked Pothier over the face with his stick, late hits, etc etc. i know this is his job, but if the NHL was doing its job, he wouldnt be running around trying to hurt people. i know his job is to be a pest, but he is intentionally trying to hurt guys, and its gotta stop. at least he looked all out of sorts in Game 6, and was completely ineffective, but i'll take that. its sad when hot head Tortorella has to discipline his own player when the NHL refuses to do so. Brashears hit was bad, definitely late, definitely head hunting, but the NHL needs to discipline all equally, not make an example of Brashear while the real pest gets away with pulling his crap.
JQK 1,124 Posted April 28, 2009 Apparently, people in Carolina REALLY like hockey...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idzeJU5_PQYSeems typical for that part of the country...(joking, joking... i kid because i hate Carolina and their mostly backwoods, pigfu*king, redneck confederate fanbase.):-P...and Don, we all know why they suspended Brashear. He's black. The NHL can't help but keep a brotha down...
