OKC is wearing Sonics "throwbacks" and the Warriors have on their new hideous alts. They look like those "Turn Forward the Clock" uniforms that MLB did a few years ago. FamousAtticus Posted October 15, 2009 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I don't think the RIP CITY uniform is all that bad, after finding out the meaning behind the quote "Rip City".Now on a different note, I heard a rumor from my Orlando Magic ticket rep that the Magic might in fact have an alternate Black w/ pinstripe uniform ready for next season(2010-2011 season), which would be their first year in the new Amway Center. DrJack Posted October 16, 2009 Share Posted October 16, 2009 I disliked the "Rip City" unis from the start, just because I thought the design was bad. I saw them live last night though and they looked great in action. Some designs just do that - they look better on players running around and jumping than they do flat on screen. By contrast, the Suns jerseys have always been the opposite for me (look worse in action than any flat photo would lead you to believe). As far as them saying "Rip City" . . . I love it. I know it doesn't mean anything to people outside of Portland, but I can't think of a more beloved phrase to who people grew up with the Blazers. Everyone in Portland knows what Rip City is. Rip City is very important to the city, the team, and the fans and using it on the front of a jersey for a game that was supposed to celebrate our history was awesome. Cool stuff. I was scrolling through the teams and jerseys on NBA 2K10 and it accidentally revealed "Mardi Gras" as a uniform, but the uniform picture didn't show up because it's locked, and it's also apparently a home jersey.
