I know this has probably been brought up before; but if the NFL were to become affiliated with the UFL, it would be cool if it was like an NFL Europe or NBA D-League.

Sacramento Name the Team Contest

These are the names for the name the team contest

Sacramento Condors

Sacramento Miners

Sacramento Pioneers

Sacramento Redwoods

Sacramento Senators

Sacramento Sting

I say Condors.

Considering the histoy of the area, I say Sacramento Miners fits best. When you're in an area that is surrounded by small towns with names like Placerville (Placer is a type of mining), it makes it hard not to go in that direction.

Can you really get excited about the Hartford Colonials? Then again, maybe Las Vegas would be a good club for Tim Tebow to be on.

You can, but probably won't. I live an hour from Hartford and I can tell you that I speak for a great number of people around these parts who have all heard about the UFL's Hartford franchise and really don't give a rat's a$$ about it. I just feel like Connecticut has a certain reputation for being very finnicky about any kind of pro sports, and rightfully so. We are smack dab in the middle of two monster sports markets - New York and Boston. We don't need and don't want to support our own pro or semi pro teams. The top teams in CT right now are the UCONN women's and men's b-ball teams, and men's football team. Thats about as far as we go round here. We are more than happy with watching the four major sports teams in the New York or Boston markets.

I agree with you sizemore, plus the turf can be accented in the school colors and the UFL Team would only have to change the midfield if the school just called themselves "Sacremento" or just put Sacremento in the endzones. Hopefully none of those lazy stripes ala Notre Dame, Kent State, and Pittsburgh.

Sacramento Syborgs perhaps? (Note: Syborg is a take-off on cyborg, a tribute to Silicon Valley...

Sacramento is located approximately 100 miles away from what is considered to be "Silicon Valley".

Sacramento Sycamores (if you want to stay with trees.....)

While the California Sycamore does grow in the Sacramento area, it is far more abundant in Southern California. Oaks are the dominant native tree species in the Sacramento region.

Sacramento Sunshiners (i.e., beachcombers)

There are small beaches lining the riverbanks in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, but they don't put me in the mind of "beachcombers" the way that coastal beaches do.

Sacramento Somaliers (i.e., wine experts)

Again, while there are wineries in the Greater Sacramento area, I don't immediately connect the region to the wine-making industry the way that I would associate Napa Valley, etc with the practice.

All good points, and I'll admit. I'm not sure about them either. i actually like the Sacramento Sting idea mentioned in another post & hope they go in that direction.

Sacramento Strip Miners, possibly??? Think about the possibilities for the cheerleaders....oh wait, this is a family show isn't it?

Condors is ok.

Sacramento Symphony......isn't there a big music presence in the area? Or is that LA?

Sacramento Surf

Sacramento Wave(s)
