2009 NFL Playoffs

Wow. I'm proud my favorite team made the playoffs, but I'm embarrassed by this performance. My only thanks goes out to Julian Edelman, who was clearly the only Patriot that showed up to play.

Well, it looks like the Pats are about to lose their second straight postseason game. They are also about to go 0-2 in postseason games against David Tyree.

Is it too soon to declare the Pats' dynasty over?

The Patriots' dynasty was over when Reche Caldwell dropped a wide open pass in Indianapolis in 2006.

Oh, c'mon!

He clearly couldn't see the ball.

His effort on that 4th and 7 that was called back by the penalty was one of the most amazing I've ever seen. Thought he was bottled up about four different times. Wow.

What the Eagles need to do for next year is go to an offense giving McCoy about 60 to 70 carries a game. I mean, when the other teams all know you're gonna pass, it's not going to be effective.
You can not be serious. If they run the ball 70 times in a game then everyone would know that they're going to run and it wouldn't be effective either. There's also a little thing called health. Give McCoy 70 carries a game and you're going to have a dead McCoy. Thirdly, the average number of plays in an NFL game is 125 so the Eagles will essentially not be passing with your offense. You know why they don't do this? Because it's dumb.
First off, there are three things that can happen when you pass, and two of them are bad.

Second, McCoy can handle the load.

Third, if you have a good enough line, you can handle 8 in the box.

WillMorris folks. His insanity isn't limited to college football.

Yeah Will, most RBs can easily handle 70 carries a game. And did you really think you could pull off "there are three things that can happen when you pass, and two of them are bad" as if it were your own?

On another note...

McCarthy, have you ever noticed that you and I the only ones who ever respond to Will's idiotic posts? Maybe if we ignore him like everyone else does, he just might stop talking. Just a thought.

Well, it's official. Now that the Pats are out these playoffs are damn near perfect. Of all of the teams left, I wouldn't mind seeing any of them win the Super Bowl.

With the 2nd round in the AFC set, I have to say that I don't see either home team losing. It wouldn't completely knock me out of my chair if Baltimore snuck by Indy, but I still don't really see it happening.

It's a common enough thought, the likes of both Darrell Royal and Robert Neyland having been credited with the quote.

I'm familiar with the quote. It sounds really "tough and old school." The problem is that it's also a stupid quote. It doesn't hold up at all. The same thing can be said of running the ball. For example: If you run the ball, three things can happen and two of them are bad. You can gain yardage, lose yardage, or fumble. It also applies to field goals. When you kick a field goal, three things can happen and two of them are bad. You can make the field goal, miss the field goal, or it can be blocked. Seems to me that this "great quote" applies to just about anything an offense does.

I know it's really early, but I"m noticing something a bit odd. I never in a million years thought I'd honestly say this, but the Cardinals are playing like a team that has been there before. The Packers, not so much.
