FiddySicks
That's not a bad question, actually. They still have them listed as their alts on the MLB shop. I think those are the best jerseys they have, it's a shame they don't/hardly wear them anymore. I think those are the best jerseys they have, it's a shame they don't/hardly wear them anymore.Have you ever seen one in person, though? I bought one on eBay because, like you, I thought it looked really good. When I got it though, it seemed like they were using too dark of a purple for the jersey, and with the primarily black wordmark, the whole thing just looked kinda muddled and drab. Ended up selling it, because I knew I'd never wear it. If they bring that one back, brighten up the purple. Now, the purple Diamondbacks jersey, that thing popped. The wordmark got kind of lost in the dark purple much like the Baltimore Ravens purple helmet stripes get lost in the black helmet. They need to brighten up the purple if they bring that back, heck they need to brighten up the purple regardless. Now that the D-backs have ditched purple, the Rockies need to embrace the purple and use it as the dominant color.

apeman33
Perhaps if the Rockies brought back the purple alts, they could try silver lettering and numbers with black trim. I think that would look better than black on purple.
The_Admiral
Rockies need to lose the whole Times New Roman thing pretty soon too. The lettering looks too slight. Gets lost. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
TheOldRoman
Rockies need to lose the whole Times New Roman thing pretty soon too. The lettering looks too slight. Gets lost.I agree. The font isn't that bad, but the big silver gashes in the middle of the lettes muddle them. They look mostly silver with a thin black outline. The letters get lost on the jersey, especially against the bold black numbers they use on the front of the jersey. Looking at their home uni, the eyes are drawn right to the numbers. That is wrong. Especially since the Rockies and Ravens both use the same shade of Purple against Black:However, the Ravens use an even darker shade of Purple for their uniforms:
Firefly
I like a nice dark purple but if you already have something so dark, why bother having black? My problem with the font also has to do with the black. Even the hat is drab mess with the black.I rather see the Rockies with an all purple hat with an all white logo. Purple pinstripes for home, solid gray with purple letters for away and solid purple for Sundays. No need for boring silver. And sleeves, for goodness sakes. oo_nrb
The purple alternates are still "active", but haven't been worn since 2006. In an interview in 2008, one of the Rockies higher-ups said they have "no plans" to wear it in the future. A rumor was going around for a little while that said the jerseys would be retired and auctioned off, but that's still a rumor at this point. 2011 Colorado Rockies | Season from Hell
