They're fine for a one-off celebration of the championship team that wore that design originally, but I don't think they work as a regular alternate.

This. While I think it's necessary for the Packers to have a blue alternate, this is not the way to go full time. Here's to hoping they eventually bring back the classic Lambeau-era unis as a permanent alt.

But does anyone know why they chose today to wear them? I seem to recall reading that the Packers clinched the 1929 title during their final game that year against the Bears. Since the Bears happen to be their final opponent this season, you'd think that'd be the ideal time to trot these out.

I have to say I'm totally shocked at all the love for the Ravens look tonight. I personally think it looks absolutely fantastic, but the first thought I had was, Oh man the boards must HATE this look

As for the Bucs, had they won the game today I probably would've been pushing for them to go back to those full time. Since the current set came out I said that I'd NEVER support a movement away from that set, but they looked damn good today. The thing I liked the best about the set is they look absolutely identical to how they looked in the early 90's when I first started watching them. The orange may be a bit brighter, but watching highlights of them really makes me feel like a little kid again.

That's exactly how I feel (minus the call to bring them back full time). I absolutely love the current red set. It's in the top 5 looks in the league right now. But at the same time, the throwbacks are gorgeous. I guess having two great uniforms isn't that bad of a problem to have.

Infrared41's best and worst looking games of the week.

Best...

1. Redskins - Giants: "Stripe problems" and all, those gold pants really work for the Redskins. The Giants look is flawless. The team's two color schemes look good together as well. This game gets the easy win this week.

2. Browns - Dolphins: Two of the best uniforms in the league on the same field. What more can you ask for? A lot of people find it "boring" but I think the Dolphins look great in all white. (I'm sure I'll hear plenty of for this pick. )

3. Falcons - Buccaneers: Talk about a "modern" vs. traditional match-up. Whenever talk of the "creamsicles" comes up I always think "they're OK but they aren't that great." Then the Bucs break them out and I remember just how cool that look really was. God help me but the Falcons look is really growing on me.

4. Texans - Eagles: Two of the best "modern" looks in the game.

5. Bears - Lions: Nice game between "modern" and traditional. The Lions lose a lot but at least they look decent doing it. The Bears really need to go to white pants on the road.

Worst...

1. 49ers - Packers: The 49ers have one of the top uniforms in the NFL. That wasn't nearly enough to save this game. Those Packers throwbacks were nothing short of God-awful. I get that the Brown helmet was supposed to represent a leather helmet (wasn't it?) but it threw off the whole look. Not that it mattered, that uniform was just horrible. This may be the one time where a 49ers game makes the worst looking list, that's how awful that Packers gear was. The jersey was in interesting idea...and that's where any hope of looking good ended. I feel bad that I have to show a 49ers uniform in the same picture as those things.

2. Bills - Vikings: How awful were the Packers throwbacks? Awful enough to knock this disaster out of the top spot on the worst list. I didn't think a worse looking game than this was possible.

As its almost been unanimously stated here, the Ravens had a kick-ass uniform last night. Hope we see it again in future prime-time home games.

That kind of uniform (dark jersey with another dark pant) can work when the pants match the helmets. Its also why the Falcons (red jersey and black pants) worked well also. Too bad Mike Smith seemingly has put the black pants in the hamper to not be worn.

I give the Ravens credit this year for changing up their looks. They have now worn 5 different uniform sets. Good for them.

And the black pants don't need stripes because the Ravens uniforms are void of striping (unless you count the outline around the neck). Its actually consistant with the rest of the uniform.

The Rams have now worn 7 different combos in the regular season. The white jersey/gold pants combo was the last one left to be worn, before today. I like the gold pants better with the blue jersey's, but its nice to see them occasionally with the white jersey's as well.

I think teams have done a very good job (generally) this year, of mixing up their looks. There are a few teams though, that should do much better. And they are:

1. Tennessee. The white pants need to make a comeback, at least occasionally. The light blue/dark blue home look is tired and doesn't work well because of the white helmet. In fact, this is a team that is probably in need of a complete uniform overhaul. Keep the colors, but new threads would be nice.

2. Atlanta. Black pants exist and haven't been worn in over 2 years. Would be nice to see them again sometime.

3. Houston. I still think, red pants should be imcorporated into the road look once or twice a year. With the red numbers on the road jersey, it would look good. Wear them with the navy blue socks.

4. Philadelphia. The Eagles have done well this year, with 4 different combos. But the team's best look (all green) still has never been worn with the current uni set and black shoes the team now wears. It would also (like the Ravens) be a kick-ass combo. Really not sure why it's not be trotted out. Especially with how "green conscious" the Lurie's are.

The only reason I can't completely jump on board with these are the striped socks. I know it matches the jersey and hearkens back to the original unis, but with the way players wear their socks nowadays, it looks bad.

Can you outline the purple stripes with thin white stripes? I think that would put over the top.

Wow. I can't get over all this fawning over the Ravens. Clearly I'm in the minority here but I don't think the look is all that great. Don't get me wrong, it's not awful but I'm just not seeing the "greatness" you all are. To each his own I guess.
