New Marlins Uniforms?

At first I hated it, but now I kind of love it. I think the Marlin's in a weird spot, but that M by itself on a hat (that hopefully isn't black) is going to look awfully nice.

At this juncture -- before I've seen the uniforms -- it looks like a fresh take on baseball design and that's something we don't get nearly enough of.

What's great about the logo is it gives you so many options -- orange hat, blue hat, yellow hat, and so on. We all know there will be a black one, but that alternates should look terrific.

First leaked on the CCSLC

Oh really now? Ok so admittedly this is what I LOVE about this place, but any chance you'll get a friendly email/phone call/kicked in front door by two big Italians from Bud and friends at MLB Properties for this, Chris?

I like the current Marlin looking like a Marlin.

The new one looks like some acid-trip gone wrong, the whole thing does.

Light blue? Oh that's refreshing, didn't know any teams use that. The yellow seems out of place.

Just looks too abstractish and boring. What is with new logos lacking any depth? Costs too much to print a decent logo?

That "marlin" looks stupid.

Oh well, I don't expect teams to have good designs anymore so not sure why I'm surprised.

Kind of odd how the gray borders the entire M, but not the entire fish.

Also, I think it'd be better if the fish's head was in front of the M and its tail behind it - so basically the opposite of what they have now.

In this case it's fortunate most news media outlets do not credit original sources (unless you watermark leaked images)... we still don't know if what was posted is the actual Marlins logo, right? The Marlins aren't saying so.

It also was not leaked here. I mean, someone found the image somewhere else and posted it here - therefore, wherever it originated from is the actual "leak" source, not the CCSLC.

You know what? The jerseys may not be terrible after all, depending on what they are going to use. If they use something simple like the script above the M logo and say it's light blue with a black border on the home jersey, it would be okay to me. As long as they don't go insane on color usage on the uniforms, the new logo may grow on me. They could use every color in the rainbow if they want on the logo, but as long as the jerseys are slick, maybe they will get a pass from me.

And the "somewhere else" originally got it from the MLB Style Guide which got it from the Miami Marlins who got it from the designer... therefore, the designer leaked it.

I basically comes down to what Icethetics does all the time. If they receive a leak, then they can post it. If they see it themselves, they can't.

The M Fish logo looks nice, but keep in mind that people decried the new uniforms, not just the logo. The Marlins could take what appears to be a perfectly acceptable hat logo and screw it up on the uniforms.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

They can do whatever they feel like, that is what they choose to do in order to maintain relationships

I could get down with the "international abstract" vibe if the whole thing wasn't slathered against a black background. It seems to me like the identity will be 80% black, 20% "other" like their current color scheme - but aside from simply teal as the "other" we'll have some amalgamation of light blue, grey, yellow, and orange.

Also the "marlin" still reads as an airplane to me, no matter how many different ways I look at it. Probably because it's going in behind the "M" and doesn't have a tail or lateral fins.

Eww.
