I only remember them playing a west coast trip through Anaheim and Oakland in that garb.

Yeah, it was only during their Opening Series(es) against the Angels and A's. I don't remember them wearing the blue socks in Minnesota, jrodsep.

You're right. After a quick search they were on the road in Anaheim, Oakland and then Cleveland at the end of April 2009.

wait, the playoffs are going to be on the mlb network? if they are that such bull, not everyone such as myself can afford the ridicolous cable package that includes mlb network. they will just be shutting more fans out, just like NHL had almost the entire playoffs on versus and nbc sports that nobody had so the ratings for th SC finals were garbage because after a couple weeks in the dark, nobody even knew hockey was going on still. i doo see fox and tbs are still involves so i guess the whole thing isnt a loss if it on MLBN.the graphic package overall is very cool looking

Mets, Jets, Islanders

They said on MLBN over the weekend that two LDS games would be on that network. Of course, they would likely be shown on a local channel in the cities of the contestants. I don't like it, but it's not all that much worse than putting playoff games on TBS, since a number of people without cable can't watch those series unless their team is competing in them.

This was the first year that each and every game of the playoffs was nationally televised, albeit often on low-carriage channels like NBC Sports and the NHL Network. In previous years, numerous games in the first two rounds were only available locally. In short, what are you talking about?

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Any word on if the Astros will wear a patch for Neil Armstrong? Maybe just a Apollo 11 Patch?

There's really no reason for the Astros, or any team, to have a patch for Neil Armstrong. A moment of silence, a lowering of the flagpole, sure. But a patch is way overboard for someone who had no impact on sports, the game of baseball, or the Astros.

Considering they had a tribute patch for Space Shuttle Columbia, I'd be pretty surprised of they didn't have one for Armstrong. Sure he didn't specifically impact baseball, but in a town like Houston that is synonymous for space flight, you kind of have to. Especially a team called the Astros.

... so the Astros will obviously all wear 11 one day soon. :)

As far as MLB Network showing 2 playoff games, it was inevitable, and will add value and lead to more people getting the network. I highly recommend all of the league networks over ESPN. No fake drama or storylines beat to death that I've seen on any of those... yet. No force feeding. Pick whatever sport you're in the mood for. You can get them with a fairly low-priced DirecTV subscription. /end genuine testimonial

The Columbia patch was memorializing a national tragedy. Neil Armstrong's death, while never timely, isn't a tragedy. Neil had more to do with Ohio than Houston. It'd be really weird if the Astros had a patch for him. Again, maybe they'll have some sort of special tribute before the game, but I doubt a patch. I don't see the patch happening, but we'll find out soon.

Do you expect the Rockets to have a patch for Neil Armstrong based on your criteria?

Somebody posted a picture of something he thought was the new logo on the comments of the latest article about the new Houston Astros logo on the motherboard. In the article Chris talks about the new uniforms and how they will be switching back to orange and blue. Well here's the link to the picture.

It's between the words Community and leaders.
