1. I have always liked Mike Gundy because there are two things I know about him:

1. He's a man.

2. He's forty.

2. However, going on everything we have in front of us, how close the computers are, how the coaches have voted, how the AP (even though it doesn't count) ranked them, and when you take into consideration that Alabama only lost to the definitive #1 team by 3 points- there is at least some concrete evidence in their favor.

3.Don't you think, at least a little, that a reason for people wanting to see Oklahoma State over Alabama is simply because they are sick of the SEC? Not the only reason...but when it comes down to the two and you had to write a list of pro's and con's, I think some people would reason with that.

1. OK, that cracked me up. Well done.

2. All the evidence, no matter how compelling, is still subjective. My argument is simply that, all things being almost equal, the conference champion should get the nod over the team that finished second. I'm not saying that Alabama isn't as good as Oklahoma State. I'm saying Oklahoma State is more deserving of a shot at LSU than Alabama is. That's where the human element really needed to come into play in this.

3. Sure, some of it is probably anti-SEC bias. All I'm saying is that people shouldn't assume it's all anti-SEC bias. There is a very rational, and unbiased, argument to be made for Oklahoma State and it has nothing to do with the SEC.

Al Golden's voting privileges should be revoked.

Look at his ACC voting, in regards to Clemson and Virginia Tech especially...along with a few other questionable rankings.

Are you going to criticize Nick Saban for putting Okie State at #4?

You see, I like the SEC. My favorite team is in the SEC, and I really do believe they're the best conference in the game. But even I don't like seeing Bama and LSU in the title game. But the main reason is because Bama already lost to LSU. We've seen that, let's get OSU in there for the excitement factor. And on the whole "then you don't want the two best teams to play for the title then" argument, I just don't feel that Alabama is better than OSU by enough to really determine that. Frankly, if Bama wins the title, whoever wins the Stanford OSU game has a legitimate gripe.

Gahh, with all of the awful ends to a college season I've seen, this one ended up being by far the worst. Playoffs would be great right now. Hell, I'd even like to see a +1 would be nice, and I'm mostly against that idea.

Man the BCS sucks. This whole thing is just like an epic academy award quality movie that ends like the Sporanos.

Well, you can definitely find some conference and geographical bias in those rankings (along with the AP or Harris)...but that guy is off his rocker.

The computers picked Oklahoma State 2nd. It was the AP and coaches who didn't. So what does that say? And I'm a fan of the SEC, I think they're the best conference, I'm excited Mizzou is going there and I really do like Alabama, more so than LSU or OkST. But I'm not happy how coaches were able to manipulate the polls by voting schools lower than where they should. I don't like how Saban voted OkST 4th, and I really don't like that Gary Pinkel did either. It just seems to much like a fix.

And thus why the current system is crap. I don't like them, but Oklahoma State got shafted.

Well, the AP poll isn't a factor at all.

At any rate, you are right- the coaches poll should have no weight at all in the scheme of things. First off, how many of these coaches get to analyze and watch these games with everything they have going on within their own team and conference? Not many as you'd think. Certainly not as many as a sports analyst or editor whose JOB it is to watch the games. At the same time, I don't like a lot of weight from newspaper guys either...because most never even suited up to play the sport in their entire life and have a screwed up bias in their heads about "what football really is".

Some of these coaches aren't even the ones filling them out. They have someone else in the offices doing this for them- and that is a fact. I'm not saying Spurrier does it for the Coaches Poll, but he did admit to not personally filling out a ballot for SEC QB of the Year whenever he was the only person to NOT vote for Tebow.

Get rid of the human polls entirely, and add margin of victory to the Computer polls. Problem solved.

The computer programs are not public domain, so the problem cannot be solved if you have no idea on what you are "adding" to. Only one of the programmers publicly makes theirs available. The Colley Matrix is the only one with an open algorithm and was the one which had the error in 2010.

Remember, the system is only like this in the first place because USC was #1 in 2003 and didn't make the title game.

I'm of the belief that if the computers don't think so, then it shouldn't be so. I have completely lost faith the human voters for determining anything. I think the computers should determine the bowl games as well, just so we won't have this Virginia Tech BS. I would say computers should officiate, but then we wouldn't get things like this:

Montee Ball is a Heisman finalist! Along with Luck, RGIII, Richardson, and Mathieu. Guess Ball's still the 2nd most famous "Badger" in that list, but I'll take it.

Looks like RGIII has a good shot, which is cool. He's been awesome and the idea of someone from Baylor winning it is nice.

On the conference toughness point: the Big 12 is actually better than the SEC according to Jeff Sanguin's ratings.*

*I haven't actually seen the ratings, but I read that from Joe Posnanski's blog. I think Mr. Posnanski is a trustworthy source.

Yeah, it's about time they gave a defensive player some recognition. Who knows, maybe he'll win it.

It'd be awesome, unfortunately from what I hear the suspension hurts his chances. If he won though, you guys would like me less than you already do. I'd be putting the PAAAAWL in EEES EEEE SEEE FOOTBAWL!

I'm not convinced Crackalacky sans Andiambro is top ten material either. I think they're realistically hovering in the teens at the moment.
