I'm sorry, but that hit that Canty put on Vick, the hit where he broke his hand, that was a late hit and ANY other QB gets hit like that, it'll be a roughing the passer. This is coming from a Cowboys fan who hates the Eagles with a passion. I think Vick has a valid point. He's still a QB despite his playing style. Inside the pocket, and he gets hit late, a roughing the passer penalty should be called. It's inexcusable.

Peter King from SI said it best...

I thought there was one call Vick should have gotten -- a high hit from Chris Canty that may have caused his broken hand. By the letter of the rule, he was hit high, after the release. But the problem with Vick is that often he's hit as a runner, not as a passer, and the rules are different. A quarterback in the pocket is treated altogether differently than a runner who's left the pocket. And many of the hits Vick takes come after he takes off running.

Next to Craig Whelihan and Cleo Lemon, Curtis Painter is the worst QB I have ever seen.

Jeff George? Rob Johnson? Tim Couch?

Get used to him, one of the local Indy stations is reporting that Manning is out for the year and that Irsay has been telling fellow owners that (most likely in looking for a trade).

Henry Burris and Jonathan Quinn may have something to say in this argument.

Season saved!

How? Is Vick going to play linebacker?

I don't buy it. Even if he will miss the entire season (which I think he will), why would Irsay tell that to other owners, thereby drying up their asking price? Also, David Garard is right there for them if they want a QB better than Painter and Collins.

That's why Red Zone rules No Commercials

I concur, Red Zone is very cool. I'm guessing week 6 for the defense to catch up with the offense. A lot of BIG yardage games early in the season, the lockout and the rule changes protecting receivers are having an impact.

So ESPN just reported that Tony Romo will be wearing what basically is a large kevlar sheet under his pads tonight to protect his ribs. I thought the Bengals played yesterday.

I got called out by a certain poster for saying Calvin Johnson was going to make his case as the top receiver in the league this year. I was told only Andre Johnson can be mentioned. Calvin is making a pretty strong case so far, huh? 6 TDs through 3 games and an amazing catch in overtime to set up the game-winning field goal.

That's a great 3 game stretch; Andre has put up 1,000+ yards and 8+ TDs the past 3 years. He is the all time leader in receiving yards per game, the only player besides Jerry Rice to lead the league in receiving yards back to back years ('08 and '09), and is the only player in NFL history with at least 60 reception in each of his first 8 seasons. He's also led the league in receiving yards per game 3 of the last 4 years (finished 2nd in '08). Three great games, or even a whole great year isn't going to erase any of that. I'm a fan of Calvin Johnson, but he's not on Andre's level

Andre>Calvin

Three great games or a great year? Seriously? He just started his fifth year in the league and is already half way to his THIRD 12+ TD season. Andre is in his ninth year and has hit 9 TDs once, never more. Also, he should easily hit 1,000 yards for the third time in his five year career. Andre hit 1,000 twice in his first five. You act like this three game stretch came out of nowhere and Calvin hasn't proven himself in this league. Andre is a great receiver and very consistent. But to say Calvin shouldn't even be in the discussion is idiotic. Here is a nice stat for you: Since the start of the 2008 season (Calvin's second year, after a rookie year that was injury plagued), nobody in the league has caught more touchdown passes. He has 35 in that span.

I feel like I'm watching a DC United FC Dallas game right now with all of the points scored off of kicks this game.
