Astros will also have flashback Fridays. Wearing Colt 45, shooting star, Full rainbow, rainbow sleeve and navey/gold era jerseys.

Wow that looks great on the actual jersey. Astro's need to return to the tequila sunrise look full time.

This is really great. They used the eras really well combined. Didn't they celebrate 45 years in 2010? Or is it dating back to the Houston Colt 45's franchise?

Yea, the Astros have a bad habit of celebrating anniversaries twice. In 2006 they had a patch celebrating the clubs 45th anniversay. Then last year they had a patch celebrating 45 years of "Astros" baseball. It kind of irks me when teams move and they have a patch recognizing the 10th anniversary of that team moving. But I understand why becasue the new home city wasn't part of the entire clubs history so it makes sense to celebrate the period the team has been there. However, there really isn't much need to celebrate the anniversary of moving across the parking lot into a new stadium (that they don't even use any more) and changing team names. It just confuses you already young fanbase as a good chunk of Houstonians are transplants and weren't around when the Colt 45's played. While they are going all out with this anniversary by having throwback fridays and having former players make appearances all season, look out for a 50th anniversary Astros patch in 3 years.

Yes, the Colt .45s/Astros thing is why they celebrate anniversaries every two or three years, at least under current ownership. The current ownership still has the occasional Biggio/Bagwell promotion in an effort to draw fans who otherwise wouldn't come out to see the disaster this team and franchise have become. Drayton McLane lives by the "sucker born every minute" philosophy of promotions to draw fans to the park. This whole 50th anniversary thing was done early to have three days full of promotions this weekend centered around it. Otherwise, who would come out to see Rockies-Astros? No reason it couldn't have waited until next year.

Sorry, I'm just a frustrated Astros fan who is disgusted with MLB leaving the ownership transfer in limbo (either approve or deny the sale, but let's get on with it) and the possibility of MLB moving a team with 50 seasons of history in the NL to the AL while leaving a former AL franchise and three other franchises with less than 20 years of history in the NL. Typical, stupid Bud Selig crap.

I'm wondering that since the Astros now have a new owner that the uniforms will be getting a do-over.

Nope. Houston Chronicle columnist Richard Justice asked Jim Crane specifically about the uniforms and he said he had no intention of changing them. So if Crane gets the team, don't expect any changes.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!
