Fox
If the Miami Heat won the NBA finals, then I would say most definitely.
JayJaxon
We had a great World Series, an NBA finals where the good guys won, and not to many people really care about the NBA lockout. The Packers got back on top of the NFL, and the lockout did not do a lot of harm to that sport. Plus the MLB enjoyed the best last two weeks in a long long time. Sports has not been that bad this year.
the_fan
Packers win the Super Bowl? Yeah I'd say... Three biggest disgraces in sports this year:3. Braves collapse2. Red Sox collapse1. Most Canucks fans actions this post-season

CS85
Nah not really. The NHL finals went to 7 games and good overcame evil in that particular venue, likewise with the NBA finals. The world series, despite my hatred of the winning team, was very exciting. The NBA lockout is meh, I think the NBA isn't missed too badly on my end. I would've liked to see how the Bulls were coming along, but not seeing highlights of LeBron/Wade/Bosh every night is refreshing. I'm hoping for an exciting NCAA basketball season and exciting finish to the NFL season. Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. Saintsfan
Yeah let's not get carried away. Plenty of other auto sport stars have died in the past, most years have some type of scandal (the NCAA hasn't felt the need to disqualify a program this year), we've had pretty exciting NBA, NHL and World Series finals. The NFL season is building nicely. Overall you could ask if there has ever been a better year for sports. 2011/12 WFL Champions
TBGKon
In the sense of athletic performance, I think not. Looking at the external events in the sports world, I'd say so.

dfwabel
Since this year did not have the cancellation of a FIFA world cup/golf majors/tennis grand slams/Olympic games in the same year, my answer is that it is not the worst year as athlete's death and scandal occur every year.
