Oregon State to get a Nike overhaul?

Every year Nike goes to a couple schools and consolidates their identities. Michigan State a few years ago, Washington State and Arizona State last year. It is possible that Oregon State is up this year. (psst, they are doing Connecticut for 2013)

Nike has been working with TCU on a rebrand to be unveiled in 2012. This year's football uniforms were part of the transition, but the completed project will be unveiled next season to coincide with the new football stadium and conference change.

This perfectly encapsulates why I like Nike better than all other manufacturers. They don't just make uniforms, they put a lot of time and thought into building a lasting brand.

What Nike has done with Boise State's brand is FAR more impressive than anything Russell ever did with it. Same goes for Oregon - Nike's work there is a lot more thorough and memorable than Champion's. I'm sure they'll come up with something just as spectacular for Oregon State.

BTW, for the record, while I liked the ProCombats, this was easily the best "classic" look for Oregon State.

This photo tells you exactly what Nike thinks of Oregon's OTHER school -- "The red-headed step child."

Nike knew it looked like a freaking sports bra, and they pawned it off onto the Beavers. They NEVER would've had the Ducks wear this embarrassing uniform. If so, it would have been over Phil Knight's dead body!

Just go with this full time and be done with it. Beavers script and beaver face doesn't work, never has. Leave helmet blank or use the OSU logo.

Personally my fav procombat.

But I think they've been saying this for years. I remember reading an article similar to this a couple years back. And then nothings happened.

"Classic" does not mean it gets a free pass for being bad design.

yep nike overhual

hey you stole my avatar( jk)

In the last game against Detroit, the time from ten minutes left to one minute left was probably the longest nine minutes of my life. But from one to zero was probably the greatest time I've ever had. I didn't want the clock to run out. It was such a great feeling: people crying in the stands, people jumping up and down, people cheering. Guys couldn't even sit up on the bench. It was probably the best minute of my life.

Ah, the "I'm kidding" - the universal internet excuse for saying something that others perceived as dumb.

How much "time and thought" went into those sports bras uniforms, do you think?

I just hope that Nike does not give them a gray uniform because Oklahoma State already has that and it would just clash together too much. Now I would love to see the following in a modern uniform design:

Helmet:

Orange, Black, White, Matte Black

Jersey:

Orange, Black, White, Tan

Pants:

Orange, Black, White and Tan (All with stripes and none just plain Jane)

The reason I suggest Tan is because the Beavers were once known as the Orangemen and they wore Gray and Tan uniforms, so instead of giving them Gray, they can create a throwback uniform to the Orangemen.

Can we stop all the mix-and-match nonsense already? Maybe an orange alt, but otherwise, how about a home and away set and be done with it? Gah.

Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop!

Thank the Nike God is all I can say. OS has a chance to have a great identity yet have failed to make the next step by keeping around that horrid beaver logo. Drop the beaver or at least make it look better, standardize a script, push the "OS" logo more, keep that number font, don't do anything too crazy with the unis, and you got a good looking team.

Tan wouldn't be half bad. Their baseball team won the two college world series titles Recently wearing tan/cream.

Mix and match is a plus if your are using a modern design in my opinion. Teams with new uniform designs need multiple uniforms because they want new looks unlike the traditional schools with the same uniform for the last 30 years. Now I am not knocking those types of schools, but for the ones that want to change, then I say give them many looks.

He's got a point, though. If every team started using mix-and-match combos, it would look dumb.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)
