Don't know why they're different from the actual ones wornBecause the production costs are too high on the authentics.You're right - the authentics had a cutaway Columbia blue panel, like the 1970s Padres uniforms they were apeing.That cutaway has long plagued cap companies in making replicas of the Padres cap, so the replicas have the standard two front panels in light blue. I've only seen navy and yellow ones on MLB ShopLids sells them. I might have misled you. Player shirts are in navy/yellow. The fashion clothes were in all three colors. New Era knows that these hats require different production methods/materials, and the demand for them isn't going to be enough to offset whatever new costs mass production would incur. It's not like New Era is selling a ton of the old Padres hats either.I'm not excusing New Era. I think they should bite the bullet and produce the retail hat the way it was worn on the field.
