Clemson got a #1 vote.

I'm sorry, but although I hate Clemson more than most...that is ridiculous. A preseason #8 beats a preseason #5 by 3 points at home in the first week of the season...and a voter thinks they are the best in the nation? GTFO.

Funny how the polls work for some of these guys...because if South Carolina beats Georgia next week between the hedges, then I guess "Georgia just wasn't that good. Stay put where you are in the polls."

Who has a better win than Clemson does?

So is that the mission of the AP Poll? To rank who had the best most recent win?

Or is it to rank, in order, who they feel are the best teams in college football?

The mission, as it has always been, is to troll fans like you who get bent the second you think your team has been "disrespected".

In a sample size as small as Week 1, if you have the "best, most recent win", might you actually be the best team?

The Lesmerises ballot is based on the week prior, not what will occur in the future and he mentioned that his preseason ballot is half-educated.

Resume balloting, which Lesmerises clearly subscribes to, is a perfectly valid way to determine who is the best team in college football at the moment in his opinion. What's more objective than evaluating teams based on who they have beaten? If Alabama is truly the best team, then its certain they will pass Clemson as they add to their resume.

Besides, it's Week 1. This ballot will have no bearing on the BCS rankings.

In either case, I think we'd all agree that it's purely subjective. He's entitled to his opinion. None of us can provide concrete proof that the guy is wrong. Who knows? Maybe Clemson is the best team in the country. None of it matters in week one anyway, so why worry about it?

Not on the sideline tonight, ASU football AD Sherman Morris.

Seriously man, what the hell is your problem? Every time someone posts something about their team, you always link to an article about something happening to someone involved in said athletic program. And it's not even a player that got arrested, this guy's arrest has no impact on the game at hand. Why do you have to be such a dick?

With Will Sutton on D and Marion Grace running the football, Sacramento State doesn't stand a chance. Also on Arizona State, they did a tribute to Pat Tillman (one of my favorite CFB players ever) with him leading the team on the field.

I'm gonna throw a somewhat bold prediction out there now. By the end of the year, Clowney isn't gonna be the D lineman everyone is talking about. It's gonna be Will Sutton.

I want to agree with you, Sutton is a great guy, great leader. I hope he has a great year where everyone is talking about him. But when Sutton is coming in 20lbs heavier and not full of muscle. That us what worries me.

However I also think Taylor Kelly could be another player that everyone is talking about as well.

Honestly, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised by that. Sutton's an absolute beast.

That being said, I doubt Clowney will disappear from the conversation. There's no such thing as a one-man d-line, after all.

I posted it last week, but Clowney and Sutton had essentially the same exact stat line last year. Difference is that Sutton doesn't play in the SEC and didn't have that one bone-jarring, .gif-able hit in a bowl game that played on repeat all offseason to feed into the hype machine.

Yep, he's hamstrung by being outside of ESECPN's comfort zone.

ASU will get more media love if we can come away with W's against Wisconsin, Stanford, USC, & Notre Dame.

I see us grabbing two of those games, tops. Anything more would be downright shocking to me, and would REALLY make me excited to see how the rest of this season played out. I could realistically see us beating Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and maybe SC, but it would blow me away if they take Stanford on the road. Hell, we could easily be 1-4 by the end of this 5 week stretch if we commit the same boneheaded penalties we did last year.

I'm happy with the win tonight, and I'm confident we can have a great season, but we won our first game last year vs NAU 63-6 too, so we can't get too far ahead of ourselves.
