FiddySicks
Ehh, call me a contrarian, but I actually kinda like it. It's very unique and has somewhat of a vintage charm to it. And their old logo was one of the worst in college sports if you ask me, so it's an upgrade in my book. It certainly has it's flaws, but it's not awful. Hopefully it'll be used on the helmets in place of that boring A they had before. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) jgsmith725
there is a local store in Boone that is called Mountaineer Mania, and they have this logo that they use, It would have been nice to do something like this:http://blackandgoldnc.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Lights Out
One of the biggest downgrades in recent memory. Not even close.I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, but IMO, they just went from a professional-looking logo to a cartoonish doodle that looks like it was drawn by a five-year-old. IceCap
Not every university team needs a well designed logo, as strange as that sounds.I like LSU's poorly drawn tiger logo because its outdated, grungy feel just works for a NCAA team in Louisiana. The same principal is in play here. App. State having a sort of poorly drawn, kitschy logo just fits. Do I want to see this style, or LSU's style, brought to a pro league? No. University athletics are a different breed, though. You can, and in some cases should, make kitsch work if you can. If only to add a bit of variety. BrandMooreArt
i think it's a push. both are poorly drawn and outdated. the A mark couldn't be any more generic, and the script in the middle is useless in that font and size. at least the other logo was trying to make seem like current and serious. They were going for vintage, but the final result feels like "we give up. we're not worthy of anything special, and our crappy logo represents us as a crappy college". a logo is the gateway to your brand. the idea/message, style, and quality of it communicates to people what you are as a product (or what you want them to believe). to intentionally do this to yourself is laughable. i'm all for taking risk, zigging while others zag, and i love vintage design. but there is a fine line between vintage and bad, and this goes well across it GRAPHIC ARTIST BEHANCE / MEDIUM / DRIBBBLE
Soarindude
I'm voting for this to be the worst logo in FBS/FCS sports currently. If I saw this at first, I'd think it was a joke. I've seen Generic EA sports made looking logos look better than this in games like Teambuilder of Madden 07.

OnWis97
This guy just looks...annoyed. I think it's a better depiction of a mountaineer than the previous logo, which always struck me as a guy in a rain jacket / hat fighting off a hurricane or something. But still, it's hard to get excited about this. It's just weird. roadatlanta4
This was posted to the App State equipment twitter account a couple days ago and I'm pretty sure that's the original 1970's version on that white helmet instead of the redrawn version. Bravo96
Looks Asian with that eye. I think that was the main problem with that concept in the first place. Well, that and the exaggerated mouth.I saw the new logo on a t-shirt today, and I have to admit it looks much better on actual merchandise than I expected. Still sad to see the Mountaineer go, but I suppose they could have done worse. (Still believe it is a definite downgrade though). Click the Banner - Join the Movement!
