What if instead of being Brooklyn throwbacks,  it was worn to honor this guy's HOF induction

So the Dodgers are honoring a guy's HOF career in the big leagues by wearing his minor league uniform?  Seems like a patch would be more appropriate.  98% won't get that it's a nod to Bakersfield, if that's what it is.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Even after the Cooperstown Collection update (as seen on the mothership), New Era still uses the inaccurate cap logo.

That logo is not inaccurate.

The Dodgers wore the B with the circular bulbs for longer.  But the cap logo in which the bulbs of the B are shaped like a D is correct, as well.

Brooklyn Dodgers

Has got to be the laziest attempt at a throwback ever. They just replaced the hat and kept the LA patch on the side.

What an odd week for jerseys:

MLB puts togeather a random throwback day outta nowhere

Reds and Braves wear throwbacks from 2 different eras

Mets 1986 away jerseys has the script really low

Chris Sales destroys all the 76 throwbacks

Now this "throwback", if you can even call it that, by the Dodgers.

Likely just their BP cap too. Can't confirm this, but  they have a BP hat just like it.

The pictures you posted don't match the Bakersfield hats exactly.

The Bakersfield logo has a diamond notch in it, as does the hat the Dodgers wore against the Cards. The pictures you posted don't have this notch.

It such a small thing, but it's noticeable.

Its especially odd in this situation because they made special #42 Jerseys just for the event, you would think they would be smart enough to remove the LA sleeve patch...

Yes, the logo is inaccurate.  As mentioned, your photos are not the same as the Bakersfield throwback.  Your photos are of the cap provided to them in the mid-50s by Boston-based McAuliffe.   Every manufacturer seems to have changed the Dodgers' logo a little bit; in this case McAuliffe gave Brooklyn their stock "B", which was the same one they were selling to the Red Sox, just without the outline.

That's not what New Era is doing now.  Aside from the lack of diamond notch @KittSmith_95 identified, the other giveaway is the vertical line along the left; New Era's version has a scalloped, wavy shape that doesn't match anything in Brooklyn's history.

If you'll forgive the self-promotion, I wrote a piece for Uni Watch a couple years back on the history of the Dodgers' cap logos, none of which match this "throwback" cap.

EDIT: and now you've reminded me, I wanted to do a follow up on the events since those were written.

Someday they'll get that cap logo right.  Not sure why they think throwing back to the 1980s Bakersfield Dodgers is a good idea.

Well to quote the great Mr Sale "Why should they prioritize p.r. and uniforms over winning"  lol

It's called "foreshadowing."
