Just meeting the requirements that the number be legible. Unfortunately they can't just do a TV number like the NFL did for teams that didn't have numbers at the time they were representing.

Navy jerseys for Georgia Tech. Supposedly inspired from the 1990 squad. I’m not seeing any similiarities besides the color. These are basically a re-color of the two white sets. The jersey needs some white number outlines to match the helmet and pants. Looks like something Pitt would wear. Not bad, though. adidas has been good for Tech compared to Russell.

I like the navy jersey, but I think they should have gone with white numbers with a single gold outline (the '90 set was double-outline, but not needed in this homage). Gold numbers do look like Pitt's navy jersey a little bit.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Interesting article from The Athletic on the Ducks’ new uniform set:

https://theathletic.com/534059/2018/09/19/oregon-uniform-combinations-cutting-back-2018-season/

Some good insight there into the design process and inspiration behind the streamlined and simple look. The article also claims that Oregon will indeed only be going with the monochrome combos this season, and that they’ll be going all-yellow again this Saturday against Stanford. There’s been speculation and rumors about that since the new uniforms were unveiled, so this just adds to that. Personally, I’ll believe that when I see it. It very well could be true, but they’re known for pulling out some surprises, so it wouldn’t shock me at all if they ended up doing some mixing and matching for a few games (and we already know they’ll at least have one more uniform this season, if not two).

While I like that they have a blue uniform, it feels tacky to say it was inspired by the 1990 team uniform when the only thing it has in common is that it is a blue uniform with some gold elements.

My initial reaction was that of joy. "Captain America reference, nice". Then I thought about it "Wait a minuet, Captain America was a small nerd in high school. He wouldn't have been on the football team at all". Now I'm torn. Aesthetically a Cap reference makes sense, but contextually, it's just plain silly.

He could have been on the team, he just would've sat the bench all year.

I think my favorite takeaway from this was that EQ Manager Kenny Farr 'remembers once seeing a tie-dyed design for the spring game that was killed'. Can you imagine what the world/Bill Walton would do if the Ducks went full Deadhead Eugene?

Also, 'one of the graphics tweeted out by ESPN business reporter Darren Rovell that garnered 843 retweets was inaccurate because it depicted the Ducks wearing white helmets with their white jerseys. Those were nixed at some point during the design process in favor of a chrome helmet'. Finally have that cleared up.

They look like Wyoming.

Played like Wyoming, too.

Also, that TAMU throwback is probably the best attempt at a throwback I’ve ever seen. The fake mesh holes are such a great touch.

If you watch this video, you can see several Oregon players wearing the yellow and green game cleats in practice earlier today:

Generally the players don’t wear their game cleats during the week unless that’s what the team will be wearing on the weekend, so it seems like they’ll be wearing the yellow and green cleats this Saturday. Since it’s been reported that they’re wearing the all-yellow uniforms again, this could just mean they’re swapping out the grey and yellow cleats that they wore in the season opener for the yellow and green cleats that they wore when they went all-green, but I’m not so sure about that. The grey and yellow cleats go much better with the yellow uniforms than the yellow and green cleats since the uniforms are yellow with black accents (and silver wings on the helmets), so I think this might be a sign that they actually are switching things up this weekend. They could be going all-green again, but since the fans are supposed to wear yellow, I’m thinking it’s more likely that we could see one of these combos:

I'd give my left nut to see us trot out in the first combo. However I'm fully prepared for mono-yellow

I’m still somewhat expecting mono-yellow myself, but I do find it a bit odd and frankly hard to believe that they’d go with the yellow and green cleats with the yellow set this time around rather than the grey and yellow cleats that were unveiled, and worn with it the first time. I could be overthinking it, but the cleats they wear each game almost always tie in with the rest of the uniform, so I’m thinking there’s a decent possibility of them going with one of the combos I posted above (or possibly even yellow/green/green) since the green accents on those cleats would clash with the black accents on the yellow jerseys and pants.

Image result for 1990 georgia tech football

The actual 1990 uni looks better, I wouldn't think the ones they are rolling out have anything to do w/ these.

I just read a story on The Athletic (subscription required) about Oregon's uniforms. Allegedly, no more "different uniform combo for every game."

Essentially, they're wearing four uniform combos this year:

  • Mono green
  • Mono yellow
  • Mono black
  • White jerseys, white pants and a copper-looking helmet
