Uh oh.

I'm starting to wonder if the league is going to (stupidly) encourage the Mets to wear their blue alts to better differentiate from the Royals because they wear blue as well.

Holy :censored: on a shingle. That's EXACLY what they're doing!

I'm absolutely stunned that the Mets are going to play game 1 in their altiest of alt jerseys. What's next? Game 3 in the camos?!?!

I can't figure out what's worse. Wearing the blue alts or their God awful alt caps every single time they do. They're the Mets and the Mets playing in the World Series should wear THE Mets hat not these travesties. This particular road alt hat should not even be worn during spring training batting practice...

For the Royals outfits, I know that regular rotations have been thrown out for the playoffs, but don't the Royals usually only wear their alternates for day games, powder at home and royal on the road? Maybe that explains why they've been missing, and likely won't be there for this series?

Makes sense, but strange that you can buy both the royal and light blue royals jerseys with the WS patch on the mlb shop, if they don´t plan to wear them.

The more merchandise with WS patches on them, the more revenue.

For sure

, but that powder blue jersey with the WS patch is $300, doubt anyone will buy one unless they wear them atleast once.

It's a shame the Mets wore that set last night. I had forgotten they had this road alt cap. It's a garbage cap and it shouldn't exist. The Mets shouldn't be wearing their alts in the playoffs, but regardless, they should have no alternate caps. When you've got an iconic hat like they do, you don't need to ever wear anything else.

Hopefully this loss means they'll wear the road jerseys tonight.

I'm not normally one to complain about uniform choices in a specific game but rewatching clips and videos of last nights game really makes it clear how bad of a decision it was to have the Mets wear those alternates. It just really hurts knowing what a beautiful matchup we're missing out on because of it. Its like theyre so close to an asthetic masterpiece and they just cleared screwed it up.

Put me in the camp who thinks alternates should not be allowed in the World Series.

Alternates are fine in the regular season as long as they're kept to a minimum. When you play 162 games it's nice to have a change-em-up look every 5th game or so, but the World Series is an institution with a long tradition and deservers a certain amount of reverence.

Also, that alternate cap that goes with those blue road alts is pointless and looks bad.

Hopefully with the loss they wear the proper uniform tonight and I really hope the Mets wear their pinstripes when they go back to Citi.

That quote needs context. I don't doubt MLB is taking the jerseys after each game and auctioning them off, but I highly doubt they're telling teams "You have to wear this." We know that Harvey likes to wear the blue jerseys, and he pitched last night. If MLB was mandating this, the Mets and Cubs probably would have taken turns wearing blue in that series, and the Blue Jays likely wouldn't have worn their alternates for 10 out of 11 playoff games. It would be plausible if MLB was trying to get exposure for all jerseys, but that doesn't seem to be the case. If it's true, the Mets will be in gray tonight and the Royals will be forced to wear alternates at some point, either the home alt, road alt or both.

Might as well wear camo "Los Brooklyn Royal Giants" jerseys complete with BP template, Diamond Era 4D (that's right 4D) stitching, and honourary Leonard Nimoy memorial patch at this point.

I don't even so much mind the blue road jerseys themselves, and actually think they look kind of good. It's that hat that bugs me. My God is that thing brutal. If they wore the regular blue caps with that set, they'd look just fine.

I don't see what makes the hats more or less offensive than the jerseys. I do find the homes, including the hats, to be an absolutely beautiful look. I just don't want them worn every game of this series, especially important ones like the first game, first home game, and possible clinching game. Of course, as I posted earlier, they did exactly the same thing they're doing this year as they did with their black alts in 2000.

The aways, though. That color for the lettering that looks gray or silver depending on the lighting is just ugly and ill-fitting. The orange of the homes is an important part of the teams identity. The gray isn't, and giving it such a high place is just wrong. I could excuse it if it looked cool, but it doesn't. The thing is, this fault is the same on the jersey and the cap, so barring the feeling that they should never wear an alternate cap, I don't understand why one wouldn't group them together.

Was on my way home from conducting a Bible study and I had Mike Francesa on. He summed the quote as "Collins said they tell them what to wear it, then afterwards take it away and sell it online". He then went on to speak about his views on the game-worn item racket being silly, especially for a game like last night, but when I heard him saw it I assumed the "they" was the New York Mets, not Major League Baseball. I don't know if there were context clues that pointed to one or the other.

There are tons of collectors out there. I collect caps, and many that I've bought I never intend to actually wear. I wouldn't doubt hardcore Royals fans out there would own an alt jersey with a WS patch on it just to have in their collection. I mean, it's not everyday your team goes to the WS.
